Need a few more studies. Delay another 5 years.

File this under “Yeah, no shit” - the longer they wait, the higher material and labor costs will be :man_shrugging:

Looks like it will be 17 story tower now. Shame.

In reality, the shift in work patterns that have come out of the pandemic compels the city to relook at the future needs.

state govt could have let many programmers work from home back in the late 90’s…they had the tech then. oddly, my dad liked being in an office around people he knew and not at home. i think more at home options should have precedence. with all the ways to communicate now company employees can meet for brainstorming and face to face encounters in all sorts of ways.

The pandemic proved what a lot of us already knew. I have been in the workplace “industry” for 25+ years and I’ve been seeing this coming for a long time.

Shhhh…don’t tell “Bandwidth”…:scream::wink::laughing::joy:

Don’t worry. Their employees will eventually tell them. Employees want flexibility, not mandates.

The City is requiring 50% in office 50% remote and it isn’t enforced. Most are lucky to show up 1 day every two weeks and that is for E & I training. When enforced they leave for higher paying jobs. This campus will never get built. NO parking for working employees only higher paid management.

OH, they already have - people were leaving that place in droves during the height of the pandemic lmaoooo

I agree with some of this, but I believe it’s 3 and 2 (not 50%) and it’s certainly enforced, for at least some departments. Agree that if it’s strictly enforced or if the city management try to go back to in office full time they will have an even harder time filling and keeping staff than they already have. The one cost-of-living increase of 2% over the past 5+ years isn’t enough to cover the increase in costs of commutes and increasing cost to purchase food or anything else downtown.

Plus the City makes employees pay parking (full price) for decks the City owns. Upper management gets free parking.

The East Civic Tower has it’s ASR approval. I don’t know if that means anything at this point.

means they will cut 5 more floors off and send it back to ASR, Arrrrr the Romans built the Colosseum faster.

Or to put it another way; Rome burned down quicker! :scream: :fire: :wink:

The clear lesson of the Colosseum is that all we need to do is make MAB Empress of Raleigh and all this permitting nonsense can go out the window :princess:

A friend of mine is working on this building and told me today that it is in fact making progress after sitting idle for a couple years. Unfortunately it sounds like it’s lost 2-4 floors

That’s crazy and insane they can’t be this slow.

Pittsboro city municipal complex may be a double wide. Raleigh should be on pace for that in about 3 years at this shrinkage pace . :grin:
