Kinda cool to see the building density from this angle.
And people say we’ve gotten rid of all our old buildings…
Well, at least judging from the progress in this picture, it will be at least this tall:
But I am unsure if that will be the last floor- and then you also have to consider the parapet wall, so my guesstimate would be:

Check out this rendering of the City Hall veranda. Once we are in the new building, I will be eating lunch outside as much as possible. How about you?
And now for the City Hall update.
It has been a very busy couple of weeks at City Hall. A team installed the new generators. They are massive. On Sunday, Oct. 5, crews delivered the two natural gas generators to their new home.
If you have seen the building in the last few weeks, you may have noticed the windows going in on the first and second floors. Wow, they really look fantastic.
And now for the big news. Crews are almost to the top floor! Crews are working on level 16 and will be starting level 17 next week.
Stay tuned for next week’s update.
Wow, so still one more floor + parapet wall to go! And it’s already huge!
Incoming from the North:
From Morgan St, always cool to see building density between trees, other buildings, etc, that wasn’t there before:
If I remember correctly, the ‘parapet’ for this one is actually a giant screen wall that for rooftop mechanical equipment that will look like a full floor? I think it will look like another row of precast panels from the facade but have wire screening where the window openings would be? At least that was the plan at one point, no idea if that changed. (So it could add like another 15 feet instead of 4 feet)
Well I purposely underestimated the height of the parapet in my ARTISTIC RENDITION so that the actual building exceeds my expectations!!! So that’s perfect!
I’m sure I’m not the only one that may feel this way but this will be my favorite building in Raleigh at least for the next 5 years. The design is more unique than any other existing or planned building downtown.
i can’t wait to see the sunset pop through those openings in the parapet
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SHADOWS CREATED BY THE NOT-OPENINGS IN THE PARAPET???

Mayor MAB was targeted with continual nonbelievable criticism by Livable Raleigh. Let’s credit our former Mayor for getting this project done! Our potential skyline of the future is also due to Mary Ann and the former council.
Hey Buck! Mary Ann read your post and she is very appreciative and loved it. ![]()
