Nice trolls! Also, not bad wood sculpture art either.

eh…Pullen Park is better.

We played in the street and rode our bikes. Kids around here get driven around by their parents until they are 16 because they’ll get killed by some jackass doing 60 down Glenwood. Also - no sidewalks.

I don’t think this was a comparison on which was better. They’re both wonderful spaces and incredible amenities for the city of Raleigh

This was my favorite piece of playground equipment.

I’m sorry, I am a grumpy cat. These people are just “going with the flow of traffic.”

They said at the State of Downtown event that the trolls have drawn upwards of 1000 visitors a day to other locations where they visited. This should bode well for Dix Park if we get anywhere close to that number.

Homie I had a ball climbing on the new Dix playground at a pre-opening event.

I am 32 years old.

Sorry you’re so young that you had fun on that. It’s ride or die on my 1973 playground of death.

State workers are moving to their new Blue Ridge digs, should all be gone by Oct 15. The city will start tearing down 20 buildings of about 500k sqft in the spring of 2026, another 500k sqft to be renovated.

Those buildings were of mundane architecture, to put it politely. No preservationist seems to be concerned.

Hi, the North Carolina Wikipedians are planning a hybrid event series focused on Dix Park. We’d love to have the knowledgeable, interested folks from this thread join us!

The event series includes an online kickoff on October 5th, the free Dix Hill Asylum Dark History Tour on October 10th, and an online Edit-a-thon on October 19th, with a special guest from the State Library of North Carolina.

Here is the event page. RSVP for the tour through Eventbrite’s normal process. No Wikipedia experience is required, but you will need an Wikipedia ID to RSVP on the event page. You’re welcome to attend one event or all three!

I rode in these AI driven Zooks cars in Vegas last week. They were free, held 4 people, and you just summoned one on the app. It was pretty cool!

But did it still ask you for a tip?

How was the overall experience? Pros? Cons? I am curious as I have yet to ride in an AI-driven vehicle.
