Construction coming this summer
Sunflowers are taking shape at Dix. Also starting to feel more like a park. Nice hammock grove next to the sunflower field and more park like amenities seem to in place every time I come.
I still worry about overall connectivity between the park and downtown because of Western Blvd, Saunders and the prison but what a great gem Dix is becoming.
Even those cheeky Insta- enjoy checking out the DTR skyline, LoLs…
The more activated Dix becomes, the more attention the Artery should get.
And the more pressure city leaders, residents, and anyone with a pulse should put on the state to sell the prison and morehead school
Hell yeah, tell it on the mountain for all to hear. Let’s do this!
Put a cap on Western!
They have a land bridge to Pullen in the master plan, if that counts for anything. I’ll be dead by the time they build it, but at least I got to see a rendering!
Idk I think we’re going to start to see more public private partnerships with infrastructure items which may help things like the Kane Dix Pullen land bridge
We can watch the annual squirrel migration when its built!!
No more road kill stew however….dammit
As I whisper ever so quietly into the unending void: “There already IS a land bridge connecting Dix Park to the other side of Western. If we could only repurpose it.”
Ahh, glad to see they’re continuing to show this awesome little model off. I got to see it at a Dix event last year. Wonder if anything has changed since then…
Idk - I need to go see it. This is at Transfer
How long is it there for?
Gipson Play Plaza Groundbreaking
Sunday, August 14 5:00 - 7:00 pm
Come join the City of Raleigh and Dix Park Conservancy in celebration of the Gipson Play Plaza groundbreaking!
Sorry if it’s already been addressed, but does the land bridge—or any other Dix Park plans—incorporate this field just south of the Morehead School with the track? I’ve never seen a soul out there in decades of living here; is it used for anything?
Since Raleigh only has an amusement park one week of the year (using that term loosely), and building some huge Six Flags type park would never happen here, I’d always wished this field could be used as an expansion of Pullen with something theme-park-ish (a couple of rides?) for the older kids, but in the same understated design as current Pullen so it would fit in aesthetically.
We’re back to child labor! The worker shortage has been solved!
I believe the land bridge would connect there.
What if prefer is if they changed their connectivity focus from the land bridge to the Artery.
