I can’t imagine that RedRoof surviving redevelopment. At the very least, the owner isn’t going to be able to resist selling that property. It’s not like these inexpensive hotel rooms are a financial boon.
Now that, is a very sleek, modern and dare I say, “hip/cool” in an old-fashioned-way, looking “parking deck” Absolutely perfect for this “SSDRWA”

Not exactly earth shattering design.
It’s a music venue, I’m more concerned with the interior design (read: acoustics)

The latest quarterly meeting had some interesting updates on the status of the whole development. They shared the slide deck and video of the latest meeting for anyone who’s curious on the website. Thought these were some of the highlights everyone on here would like to see.
DTS says to Fenton: take that!
When this gets built, it will certainly stir interest in real estate in south Raleigh (south of 40).
Ah yes, my favorite band, “Summer Festival.”
I love that this venue appears to be a HUGE high-cap indoor venue, with a smaller rooftop venue as well. They could actually do a “Summer Festival” with alternating stages if they wanted, here.
Hopefully replace the Ritz? A lot of bands play at the Ritz and it sucks.
The Ritz is owned and promoted by Live Nation and the venue at DTS is planned to be promoted by AEG, so the two will be competing against each other… hopefully this means more artists will come to Raleigh
I think this is the first I’ve seen that the development will include “Adaptive reuse” as shown on the phase one slide.
There aren’t any great existing buildings there. I’m guessing they just have those buildings as adaptive reuse in the early stages with an ultimate plan to replace them when they run out of buildable area.
They might be part of a LEED scorecard for the project.

Why do you hate the Red Roof Inn?
Red Roof PLUS you mean
This is really, really great. The multifamily housing and office/retail space was the most exciting part of this project from the very beginning. (The entertainment venue is a very welcome addition to the plans, too!) It’s really exciting to see that these portions of the project are making great progress even while other, more talked-about, portions of it remain on hold indefinitely. Multifamily housing was always going to be viable at this location, and it’s awesome to see it finally happening.
