Here’s the thing - that Seaboard Hunky Dory location is only open Fri-Sun, so unless they plan to actually have NORMAL retail hours in IW, they won’t be worrying about the weekday crowds lol. I say this hoping they DO plan to have normal 7-day-a-week hours in the new location, though. IW already has an honest-to-god INTERESTING retail lineup, and this will make it so much more so!
Agree with everything here, definitely think staying open only Fri-Sun in the new location would be very shortsighted of them.
Shit!? They sell vinyl??? Have I been living under a rock? How’s their Scandinavian black metal selection?
I believe the plans have changed and instead of bridging Whitaker over the tracks, they are going to bridge the tracks over Whitaker now.
There’s also handful of construction phases that are planned for the northern half of seaboard as well. Also…theoretically. I haven’t heard much about them recently.
I think we (and the businesses unfortunately stuck dealing with Seaboard construction right now) need to come to terms with the fact that this entire district will be uprooted and basically have to start over in a few years once every plot in there is redeveloped. If I were a business owner in there currently, no matter how much longer I had on my lease, or what promises were made about the building I was currently renting in… I’d be trying to get out and into a new location ASAP. And if I were a new business owner looking for a space to get started in, I absolutely would NOT rent in any vacancies in Seaboard for another 2-3 years minimum. I think it’s gonna be a bit of a deadzone for a while - even with the new chains opening in the recently finished buildings, they are surrounded by construction cones and closed streets - so open or not, everything appears closed off and/or unfinished. Appearances matter, especially for people with disposable income looking for something to do.
still no sidewalkkkkkk

They would rather see you drive over there and pay $4/hr for parking
i wish. it’s actually an insane SIX dollars an hour. but don’t worry. the daily max is FORTY.
Seen more activity around the Oaks at Whitaker Glen lately. But looks a lot different and bigger in the video on the website than I remember??
Was this the one that had those gorgeous hand drawn renderings? Because if so, oof, that’s a downgrade.
Nah, that’s Birney Park (formerly named Budleigh East) at Fairview & Oberlin.
Anyone heard anything about the new Trophy location on Bickett in the old Electric Supply building? The original reports from spring '23 were saying they were targeting an early fall '24 opening, but I haven’t seen any progress whatsoever.
The Bend first, then perhaps this…'25 probs most likely.
BTW, when this does take off it will compound the already interesting Ajja parking endeavors.
This interior is gorgeous
If this has already been mentioned somewhere in this thread, sorry for the redundancy.
I stumbled upon a new tenant that is slated to open in RIW early 2025, Fare&Fellow. (https://www.fareandfellow.com/)
They only have one open location in Durham on NC-54, with another location planned to open in Downtown Durham (estimated August 2024, but from what I can tell they still haven’t opened).
I think these are the same folx as BrewBox ‘truck’ which was set up out there a while ago…?
Looks like Fare + Fellow represents the (slow) move to brick n mortar around the triangle.
