Looks like they posted an ASR:

Not gonna lie, if they eventually open a brick-n-mortar coffee shop and play exclusively punk and hardcore, I will absolutely make it a Saturday morning pilgrimage. Raleigh is low-key a punk-rock city, and we need to reclaim that status a little as we’ve become a bit homogenized in recent years. But CoC started here, and now Sorry State Records is headquartered here. Raleigh needs to better embrace its punk roots.
Despite Schoolkids discontinuing live music, Raleigh’s hardcore scene is surprisingly solid. Some truly great bands out there.
From their Instagram:
“ Punk rock attitude:
We are not afraid to challenge the status quo and break a few rules along the way. Bad Brain is all about embracing the unconventional and making a statement with every cup. We don’t just value inclusivity, we require it. Our middle fingers stay up to any who direct hate, discrimination, violence, or judgment toward those that are “different”. We welcome all people who welcome all people.”
Oh the irony LOL
“We are so against hate that we flip off those who we hate”
Bless their heart!
Interesting way to interpret that, BoyHowdy
not trying to take it off topic, but "flipping off those we disagree with because we define what is “hate” … " is indeed ironic
I don’t have to hate people to flip them off…
Agree.
It may not be cool to be this way, but the truth of societal change lies in love and empathy, not intolerance nor anger. Every successful leader of a justice cause has that in common.
Thus, what would be truly punk is to say, we aren’t afraid to reach common ground with people we strongly disagree with
Are you guys still talking about the copy on a coffee food truck’s instagram?
FWIW, I recognize that flipping someone off is a false equivalency to actively using the government to disenfranchise, dehumanize, and discriminate against people. Is flipping someone off a good strategy? Highly likely no. Can I understand how it’s a self soothing activity for someone who feels deep wounds? Yes (and that’s for any side of any issue).
I just use it to let people know they forgot to use their turn signal.
I actually prefer a BIG, clearly patronizing thumbs up when people do stupid stuff in traffic. Way more condescending IMO.
Don’t forget that it’s also a brilliant example of passive aggressiveness!
Thanks to all of you for this totally hilarious comments. It has given me the opportunity for lots of laughs and a search of emojis this morning.
And it’s still less offensive than a middle finger. So the intended target can get mad all they want but at the end of the day, I gave them a thumbs up… what’re you gonna do??
Some people are even more triggered by a than a
. My strategy is to stay out of my car as much as possible and only worry about folks riding scooters on the sidewalks.
BTW, did everyone hear about the 65 year old who was killed by a scooter on the sidewalk in Los Angeles? He was struck by it, fell, and hit his head on the concrete.
No but I heard about the person killed while riding a bus that was hijacked in LA. There’s no safe transportation options!
I found some of their employees
