Who is this @JByrne guy?
He’s a nobody if @OakCityDylan doesn’t know him.
Cool, but such a shame it got scaled back into oblivion. This one tower was once two… sigh
I enjoy how, in the first rendering, there are people just milling around in front of the auto repair shop.
Kinda odd… the auto repair shop is now painted gray and has a new name on the sign. Just weird, not sure why they didn’t sell to the developer so they could do the whole block.
If it’s British slang it’s cute not offensive!
Somehow doesn’t apply for c##t and t##t, which Brits seem to say all the time. Those don’t seem to go over as well in meetings and chats at the bar here…
Next time we have a beer remind me to tell you my c##t story. Classic.
Anytime my friend!
Do not recall all the details. But in 70-80s there was a well know radio personality for WPTF that was being interviewed live on a British radio show. He was ask what was one of the favorite pastimes at beaches in south and he said ~“well we like to shag a lot”. The old two countries separated by a common language strikes again.
Now back to our regular scheduled programing.
oh BEHAVE!
Relic of the 1950s, I’d imagine. It reminds me a lot of the Robert Moses-planned parkways in and around NYC.
That’s a ton of wasted, really nice real estate
Perfect candidate for a…well I guess “interchange diet” since it’s more than a road diet. But it’s probably on the list of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” honestly. I’d love for Wade Ave to be more of an urban gateway. Tree lined medians, better sidewalks, remove the two weirdly overdesiged interchanges, replace those and the signals at fiarcloth, Dixie, Brooks, Oberlin and St Mary’s with big roundabouts, fix some of the extreme curves etc. but like I said, this is probably just so far down on the to do list. I’d love to sketch up a mock for this one day.
Given where money could be spent on infrastructure, this is not a priority for me.
I wonder how much that land inside the loop south of Wade is worth? Would a developer consider making the street changes themselves in order to make room for a development.
Especially considering that shadows and increased traffic are known to be 20x as deadly in that part of town. You’d be lucky to get approval for a park bench
