with the Triangle Rock Club concept, noice…
First we’ve heard of a spring start date for these? I would think a refitting like this shouldn’t take too long so fingers crossed for spring 2024 opening maybe.
Funny that Big Boss leaves and replaced with a brewery in presumably the same spot.
Even more reason this is the area I think needs sidewalks over anywhere else in the city. Ponysaurus, Lynnwood, Funguys, Clouds, East Bower, and now Bond Brothers all in a half mile radius. Sounds like a bonafide brewery district if people could actually walk between them.
Looks like TBJ picked it up as well.
Here is your google maps walking tour of “Iron Works Brewery District” for your choice of 4 brewery, 5 brewery, or 7 brewery tour. Happy drinking!

Except you literately can’t walk from Iron Works to Block 1053 unless your walking in traffic They constructed a new guardrail that encompasses the whole sidewalk facing Atlantic Avenue, it drives me crazy.
I guess you could also add Bowstring to that list too.
That’s where the pedestrian bridge comes in. If they ever build it…
Ridiculous. Put up some bollards to keep cars from careening into pedestrians if you have to… geesch
From last year (click for pic):
From 10 story parking decks to guard-railed sidewalks, these street experiences keep getting worse and worse for pedestrians and bikers.
If the rail doesn’t holdd up, the bicyclists in the cycling lane should be able to provide some cushion.
Buildings don’t even seem to keep people safe from cars.
To their defense this guardrail wasn’t constructed 1 week and someone plowed full speed through the whole thing and made contact with the second fence surrounding the property. Anyone standing there would have been toast.
Plus there is already a bunch of sand in the bike lane to help absorb and contain any blood spilled.
On second thought, put the bollards up between the bike land and the car lane. And open up the entire space.
Yeah until some serious traffic calming measures are brought in, that’s a corner people take fast and largely out of control. The dream for me is for Atlantic to be 1 lane until the beltline, but until then (and that’s probably a long “until”) this and the pedestrian bridge are the best and safest option for connecting the growing developments on both sides.
I’d probably skip Funguys, as there’s no sidewalk on the east side of Wake Forest Rd and no crosswalk at Hodges or McNeil (unless that’s changed since last spring, which appears to be the last time Google took street view images).
“Mid-2023” for sidewalks on that part of Wake Forest. So you’ll only have to take your life into your hands at one point, crossing Atlantic.
Ooooo, includes new crosswalks at Hodges, McNeil, Mills, and East Whitaker! Good find, thanks!
