Future of Glenwood South

Between this strip and the conglomeration of old houses that’s assembled into Cornerstone, nearly all of the character is getting wiped out in the NW corner of Glenwood South. Funny thing is that what I’d really like to see get redeveloped still sits there in all its shittyness. That’s the stretch of Peace between Boylan and St. Mary’s. Save for the Fallon’s Florist at the corner of St. Mary’s and Peace, there’s nothing in that stretch worth saving or contributes to Raleigh’s character.

I literally nixed an otherwise really nice apartment at the Paramount from my list because that strip was its view and it was so depressing to look it.

Let me guess. It was the x28 line in the building?

Hah, don’t remember, honestly. It was on that NW corner.

I hope some of the businesses that will be replaced attend the meeting and voice there opinions and suggestions. The developers might be open to keeping the rent at the same rate :man_shrugging:t4:, for a short period of time though I’m sure.

Narrator: “They were not.” LMAO.

Revolver mentioned on their Instagram account that they’re leaving their location next to where Raleigh Wine Shop was by the end of the month. They will be moving to 610 Hillsborough Street. There aren’t too many storefronts like that left, though.

I’m pretty sure that’s due to the building being renovated by the new owner. Halcyon will be spared downstairs.

Is this that super cool reno project that renders came out showing a new building along the back of the (Current) parking lot, and additional ground floor retail space? If I recall, was a white building with a rooftop deck for (assuming?) restaurant/bar space.

Yep. That’s the 28 line.

Yes, it’s this building. I somehow missed this updated rendering of what was going on there. I’m glad they’re keeping the original building. I’m sad the businesses there have been dispersed, but at least they were able to find other locations downtown.

That would be a bad idea. Though I be for on Friday and Saturday night closing it to vehicles.

Fall weather is here and not a sign of yet another city plat “under construction” property

You know if they were quiet in what they do, I wouldn’t despise them so much. But when they tease things like “The Yard” & that outdoor dog park bar and never deliver, they deserve some hate.

I wonder if it’s some kind of real estate value strategy or if it’s just bad execution?

How do they make any money? I guess just holding and then selling plots for ore then they paid for it?

Just like “investing” in crypto. Trying to find the greater fool to pay more.

Mostly land value plays. Sometimes add entitlement/rezoning then bring developer on board/sell
