Foundation is the only consistently good Fay St spot…I love it but it’s not a draw and underground - literally and figuratively.
The answer is RENT…Fay is priced like prime space. The reality is not…
Crank Arm parklet.
They’re waiting for approval from the city to extend it 10’ more West. Looks really nice.
Hell yeah. Bring em on!!! More more more, everywhere please!
Some delays with permitting but Zenith now has their license and is opening this weekend on Fayetteville Street.
Good news for the young and youngish crowd. I’m not in that category…lol.
Progress on that wine shop relocation to East DTR, I think. Workers were busy this afternoon inside the building.
This one snuck under the radar.
Thx to @svp’s husband for bringing this one to my attention.

I just saw this in the TBJ and thought it was worth sharing. Of course the readership may be skewed toward Raleigh, but either way, Raleigh/North Hills is dominating 58% of the responses from 188 subjects.
Um I’m sorry but who are of the 2% that voted BRIER F**KING CREEK???
Maybe they just really like that Mellow Mushroom?
I can’t remember which thread the discussion on the Fayetteville street Chik-fil-a was happening, but saw this today on the triangle food blog website. Looks like they’re going to make it into two different places?
- In downtown Raleigh in the former Chick-fil-A spot (400 Fayetteville Street) it looks like they are remodeling to accommodate two new dining options. First up, Rush Bowls, which already has a location on Hillsborough Street, will open their second Raleigh location. And a spot called Philly’s Cheesesteaks (which we can assume is affiliated with the truck of the same name) will be opening soon. No word on a timeline. Both establishments are listed on the Downtown Raleigh Alliance’s ‘coming soon’ business list. Thanks to Ashton Mae Smith for bringing this to our attention. Check out Rush here and Philly’s on Twitter here.
I’m at a Rush Bowls (what??) I’m at a Philly’s Cheesteaks (huh??) I’M AT A COMBINATION RUSH BOWLS AND PHILLY’S CHEESESTEAKS (yeah!!)
The space formerly occupied by Deep South bar/entertainment venue that was recently remodeled has just opened up as a tattoo parlor. Not sure if this was an existing tattoo business relo or new.
I follow Joe Almquist (heard about him from when he was at Blue Flame Tattoo) on Instagram, and he’s one of the artists at this studio. It’s called Eye Heart Tattoo. From what I can tell, this is a new parlor. I don’t know much about the other two artists, but they all seem to have a similar style and high-quality work.
Seems the former “Outpost” building across Person from Moore Sq is being turned into a Christmas Themed pup-up bar.
Got this from the RALToday newsletter (referral link).
I got excited at the idea of a Christmas “pup-up” bar. The Outpost is a great space. The details are a bit lacking though, looks like they just used a lot of stock images. Very interested in a first-hand account.
