The peak was 2016 and declined in 2017, then again in 2018, and then again in 2019. It wasn’t drop-off-the-cliff declines but it was a trending decline nonetheless.
I think that a missing piece of data is how many immigrants left the USA and returned to their prior homes during the pandemic. Net migration had fallen dramatically due to the pandemic.

I have a mysterious refund of $9.82 from Garland in my checking account this morning. I was last there in late July. Anyone else find money being reimbursed to them from Garland for no discernible reason?

Sad news tonight at players retreat. Sounds like a truck plowed into some of the outdoor tables. Not sure the whole story but a lot of injuries.
WRAL says 2 injured but not seriously.

There’s a Reddit thread on it- sounds like the guy was massively drunk (and apparently his 2nd or 3rd DWI), ran STRAIGHT thru the roundabout at Oberlin x Pullen (going airborne), then rammed into a couple and their dog. The dude’s leg broke, and the truck that hit them pinned the woman between it and another car… then apparently the DRIVER was belligerent and rude TO THE PEOPLE HE HIT. Dog is ok btw, and the couple will be ok. Hope he goes under the jail, or at least gets his license PERMANENTLY REVOKED. P.O.S.

This is nuts tho. 3rd DUI should be mandatory 10 years in jail. No excuse for that.

That’s terrifying and I’m so thankful it didn’t turn out worse than it did. I hope everyone affected a speedy recovery. This incident is quite the reminder that no matter how cautious we are, our lives can quickly change and be impacted by the actions of those around us. Hopefully a lesson to be better citizens to each other.
But for sure, that person doesn’t need to be behind the reigns of anything other than getting their life together for a long time.
