I thought it was a stupid name but was confused when the name changed. It still seemed the same inside last time, and the bartender was super nice. The outside seating was in kind of rougher shape than I had remembered though, so a little renovation out there seems like a good idea.
Probably tough to get a construction loan for a business called “Drink Drank Drunk.”
Eric Riviera, who was Seattle’s chef of the year in 2018 plans to open two restaurants in Raleigh next year.
One sounds very high- end and fancy with tasting menu (Sapo) and the other will be Puerto Rican comfort food. “Coqui, will be modeled after an izakaya (a Japanese-stye bar with small dishes and drinks) but with a Puerto Rican flair.”
“Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is probably out of reach for some if not most,” he said.
The Raleigh tour begins in March with 7-10 dishes for one or two people for $750. Additional guests will cost $125 each. The dinner will also offer a wine package priced at $175 and a beer and wine package priced at $125.
Yeah, very pricey. But I think it is cool that it is coming to the area. We will see if Raleigh can support that kind of thing.
Nice find! Seems like Coqui will be permanent.
Edit: also it seems like the Addo concept might occur in multiple locations. On the website it says he will email you the location the week before the meal.
Wowza - $1000 just for him to come to your house, before you get charged for the meal?

If y’all haven’t been to Little Blue Bakehouse on New Bern, I highly recommend it! I am a big fan of the co-______ (fill in the blank) concepts in general and co-retail/co-production with a sweet tooth twist is right up my alley!
I’ve only had Bitten Bakery so far. But their cinnamon rolls and cookies were freaking incredible. Definitely recommend this place as well, plan to try a few of the other vendors next.
Easy parking they will succeed. However, the macaron place opening on Wilmington St will struggle. No parking and I do not care for macarons.
I gotta be honest, it sounds like you judge every new retail venture’s chances of success by how much you specifically want to visit.
What is the place on Wilmington St?
I’ll try Bitten next! Carl was awesome to talk to, I will be back for sure.
Same here. That other place, The Mecca, any day now they’ll close due to not having easy parking.
New Bern is such an awesome town with the way they branded the “Bear” concept and it being embraced all over town is very unique. They have pulled it off very professionally and it’s super cool. You find them all over town in the strangest places, you start looking for them and just when you think you found them all another one pops up.

Very harsh, and not true . Please retract and apologize. Accessibility to a business can be just as important as the product.
Mecca not exactly killing it. Went bust, bought by a well known Raleigh restaurant group as a vanity project.
Plaza Cafe closing. Tough business on Fayetteville street .
