This is my first time hearing about this. Looks like it’s Amitie Macaron, the same macaron shop that’s in Crabtree, Southpoint, and Morgan Street Food Hall. Not seeing anything about it on their site, though. Can anyone in downtown confirm if they’re open yet?
There is a new macaron and coffee shop open across from Slims and Young Hearts on S. Wilmington St downtown. Just incredible activation for this street. Let’s make sure they crush so others have the confidence to make the leap too. pic.twitter.com/neL7XHPg1D
Saw this yesterday, meant to post about it. Actually went there a couple of times while they were open, their tacos were actually pretty good. Their birria tacos were really good though according to my girlfriend, so she’s especially bummed about them closing.
Like you and @xdavidj alluded to, I’d probably guess that poor marketing/management was their downfall unfortunately. Every time I went there, it was completely dead inside. The busiest I ever seen it was one day during the fall around lunchtime, and even then it was just one couple sitting outside, and no one inside except for the cashier (who kind of hinted that she didn’t think they’d be open that much longer).
Yes it is! I’m excited since it’s right by the Whole Foods we go to a couple times a week. I think weekly tacos would be a great tradition for me to start. Assuming they’re good. The menu looks interesting at least.
Had dinner tonight at 5Church in Midtown Atlanta and got to speak to the owner who told us he was opening restaurants in Las Vegas and downtown Raleigh. I think from how he described it, he’s looking in the Moore Square area.
Finally made it to Rainbow luncheonette - didn’t realize the steak dinner means… you’ll be having steak dinner… but honestly it was great and a really authentic experience. It was definitely an old school diner experience, and refreshingly different than many other restaurant options.
This was $36 I think.
That sounded really steep to me at first, but it’s not bad considering it’s a 12 oz strip seared beautifully, a whole loaded potato, salad, and buttered toast. I brought half of the steak and potato home.
yeah see that was going to be my question, not necessarily the price, but how was the steak? Sounds like you were satisfied though, so I’m definitely more keen on trying!
