So psyched about this opening. Great for downtown Raleigh.

They’re tearing down the McDonalds near Shaw and building another one!! :rage::rage::rage:

Believe me, I feel your pain. It’s going to be another suburban one I’m sure.

And the Mcdonalds behind Fayetteville Street will demolish and … REBUILD! And this will retain the same number of parking spaces. :sob:

Well, the folks in the suburban style affordable housing downtown need an affordable place to eat where they can drive their cars, cuz you know, the affordable housing needs to be downtown because they don’t have cars, or something like that.

The new Mcdonald’s will add over 1,500 square feet, so maybe there’s hope it’s less suburban style.
Although it does keep the drive through and all 32 parking spaces, they might just reconfigure the property and orientation of the building.

See Peace St. for an example of what they’ll likely do.

At least it will look less terrible than the current one? Maybe?

It’ll be terrible in a whole new way.

Any source for this?

This is my best guess as to where the 4 new food vendors at Morgan street will go.

Carroll’s Kitchen have closed up at Morgan Street , returning solely to their flagship location in downtown Raleigh on Martin Street…

So Primal Cut or Pasta Pizza will go where Carrol Kitchen was located… Raleigh Donuts does not need a big spot for their donuts… So maybe they go where the small portable locations go like flower shop…etc. Aunty Gin will probably go outside porch in one the 2 metal container vendor locations and Primal Pasta/Primal Cuts will go into the other container vendor locations…unless another vendor closed at Morgan Street.

Auntie Bettie’s will be in a separate room in the corner of the food hall (the corner of Morgan St and West St). Its currently under renovation, I’ve been in there a few times during the renovation, and should be a pretty cool little spot

Signs of new life in the former Acorn at Oak City / Kaiju space at 170 E. Davie Street. A huge Reuben’s NY Deli sign is up across the entire front of that space

Apparently Brew at the YMCA on Fayetteville St is closing already. Didn’t Benelux just leave there too? They basically said the didn’t get enough business to make it work. I guess poor people don’t like expensive fancy coffee, or all the rich kids who live downtown go to the private gyms? Who knows.

A YMCA is a weird location for a coffee shop, I’m not surprised both places struggled. Maybe a juice or smoothie bar, though…

Smoothie King would be great IMO.

I agree with this. Who wants a coffee after a hard work out
