Lol, that better be really nice coffee if you have Blackbird next door now selling $3 cups of Black and White.
TBJ article says a new business is going in on Morgan Street where Soul Taco was. I dont have a subscription so thats all I can see…

That location hasn’t really found its footing yet. Lots of turnover since it opened.
Gussie’s, a new concept from North South Hospitality. The Downtown Raleigh Alliance lists Gussie’s in the “retail/bar” category.
Super awkward spot - virtually no foot traffic with Wolfe & Porter and Goodnights closed/moved and far enough off Hillsborough that no one driving by can see it.
New concept in a twice shuttered location by a new hospitality group.
Color me intrigued…
My argument for an Apple Store in downtown Raleigh:
This is the Bay Area:
I think it is reasonable for me to hope for another Apple Store since Crabtree is far enough away from downtown. Also, Apple adding a store downtown could entice more major retailers to open stores downtown and of course increase their profits locally.
In my opinion, these would be acceptable designs for said store:
(Boston)(Nashville)
(Montreal)
They could also renovate and occupy the old Kimbrells building on Fayetteville St.
Cameron Village is more their speed. Nice suburban shopping centers and established major downtown shopping/office hubs. They don’t want to tarnish their brand by being around empty storefronts. Maaaybe if the parking lots by the concert hall get developed into high-end towers they could be talked into doing something cool there.
I honestly meant the downtown area in general, which includes the village district
Let it anchor the retail of Smoky Hollow phase 3.
I put my money on Fenton landing an Apple Store before anywhere else. Cary is prime Apple.
Across the street from the new Epic Games HQ
Chido Taco open on Fayetteville Street this weekend.

They’re bringing the tacos. Who’s bringing the seafoam green?
Oh man, I will have to restrain myself from getting a steak and chorizo torta like every week. Maybe the shrimp tacos instead…
So happy they’re opening!
THE BERKELEY announced on FB that they will indeed be moving to 428 S. Dawson Street. They will open in early 2024 at that location. They will remain open at their iconic current location until the end of October.
That’s the Fiction Kitchen space right?
Yes. Correct. I think Fiction Kitchen is moving somewhere else in Raleigh.
They’re moving to Gateway Plaza.
Love him or Hatem (), I will always appreciate that Empire Properties has such a strong focus on PRESERVING and REUSING their historic properties - especially when it allows (very) longtime local businesses to continue when faced with such unnecessary eviction. I’m gonna be absolutely bummed to see the Berkley building come down after standing for nearly 100 years
The Berkeley for the September meetup.
