The Spaghetti West, as it were.
Isn’t there another italian place nearby called Tuscan Blu?
Yep! It’s in the Depot near Tasty Beverage.
Empire Eats is not renewing the Square Burger lease — will expire Jan. 14. source
Not heartbroken by this. Ideally we can get a restaurant there that brings people to the square, and not just the other way around.
I actually liked their burger and sauce, decent size and they served cold beer.
Let’s hope something decent comes behind it and doesn’t sit vacant for months.
Meh, they had Pepsi, generic ketchup and crinkle fries. All on my dislike list. See ya!
I’m thinking that this a great location for another downtown Char Grill. Especially after the current walk-up one closes in the coming years, this location would allow for that experience to continue.
If Char Grill ends up here, I may need some new pants and belts.
Square Burger was not great. The employees were really nice, but the food was boring and uninspired. Nothing unique about them and you could find a better burger just about anywhere in the city. Including McDonalds.
I’d wonder if Cheetie Kumar and Paul Siler would be interested in moving their ‘Flips and Dips’ highlighted in the Moore Square South concept. At least temporarily.
If anyone has the time you MUST watch the City of Raleigh’s meeting today. The sheer number of small business owners speaking complaining about the shit-show that has come downtown between the homeless & young gang-types is startling.
This headline does NOT do what’s occurring at this meeting justice. The headline waters it down…DRAMATICALLY!!
There’s too many other, better meal options in the Moore Square area. If I want a good burger, Mama Crow’s is a short walk away. I’d vote for a snack stand like you’d find in basically any city social area, open late. If it were up to me, Belgian frites and Liege waffles.
A small Bojangles gets my vote!
Add a scoop of ice cream on top of that waffle
We’re purists… No toppings! During our honeymoon in Bruges we got a plain waffle every morning and a cone of frites with a new sauce every afternoon and it was the best.
I could’ve sworn that the restaurant owners said that the Char-Grill won’t be closing.
It’s not going to close, but it will be within a building. It loses its stand alone/walk up format in the future.
The news is out today on what’s following HumblePie via RaleighMag - Figulina Pasta and Provisions by David Ellis former chef de cuisine at Poole’s.
And now an announcement for a new spot on Fayetteville Street. Flavor Hills Restaurant and Bar will be expanding into The Hudson. Let’s support so that they break the curse of that space.

Is this the old Oxford space?
And another for Fayetteville Street. Still unnamed though. I believe this is the space where Carolina Cafe was in the wells Fargo tower.
