La Terrazza (The Dillon rooftop restaurant) keeps getting closer to opening. They recently did another article with Raleigh Magazine, as well as a new Instagram page, that posts nothing but teaser comments “coming soon” So who knows when it will officially open, but assumingly soon?
Yeah I’m dropping the thread but mostly because it’s now devolved into a debate over the franchise owners, who I have no opinion about. Starting a small business is hard and I wish them the best. In context, my earlier reference to “owners” clearly referred to the party that would be held responsible in the event of an IP infraction. Individual franchise owners have no legal or moral liability when their corporate parent is sued. The guy who owns the corner Mickey D’s doesn’t go to court because someone sues corporate. But also, if we imagine that Instagram followers are the same as ownership shares, we have some bigger questions to answer.
Right or wrong, people are successfully sued all the time over petty copyright violations. This company’s name was clearly chosen to skirt the edge of permissibility under the guise of wink-wink ironic posturing. That is all.
There is no debate. There is you being weird about a dumb ass franchise name and nobody else truly caring. Sorry, but this has been exceptionally silly.
I like tacos but we need more diversity in the restaurant scene (Greek, Asian and Caribbean)… it doesn’t help that the micro-retail spaces are nearly non-existent downtown. If they did, Umbrella would’ve been able to downsize and still be located downtown.
At this point, CC needs to mandate all new buildings with retail to have micro-retail units included.
I don’t know if it’s crazy or not. How many folks are going to pay liquor prices for drinks that don’t have liquor? it just seems way too specific of a concept to work in a market the size of Raleigh.
I’ve seen mocktail options being offered in liquor bars as well. This might be a better option? Also, I think that it might be cool to have a bar just offer really interesting non-alcoholic drinks (in cans and bottles) that are rarely found in Raleigh, instead of having folks pretend that they are drinking alcohol…kind of like how you can find a Mexican Coke in a bottle in some places.
There is a Belgian beer pub in the East Village NYC called the Burp Castle that plays nothing but Gregorian chants and everyone is supposed to whisper. If the place start to get a little to lively then everyone start shooshing. Its amazing. I think a concept like this would do well in lieu of a dry bar.
I would 100% go to that. Belgian beer is my favorite, it’s got a great name, and Gregorian chants are awesome, plus I hate it when bars get too loud. This it the whole package.
