Between this, Press and the new Sir Walter spot, our morning offerings are getting a huge upgrade.
And Terazza at the Dillon
As long as they make us wear robes with hoods and a rope sash to tie around our waists, I’m up for it.
I didn’t know they were planning on doing breakfast. If so that’s exciting
Don’t forget Biscuit Belly in Seaboard Station
Gonza in the Aloft on Hillsborough Street is also closing. Citing difficulties getting staff.

I feel like they were never open when we tried to go. I was more surprised they stayed in business when the prime location in DT Durham closed.
This is truly surprising.
I’ve been there many times and often found college student waiters/waitresses. Maybe they struggled to find management/kitchen staff, but FOH seemed no problem with 30k students nearby
This is definitely surprising - it’s usually fairly busy, and the Jubala Coffee in the same building is ALWAYS busy, so it’s definitely not location-related. So “difficulties getting staff” reads to me as “difficult management” - otherwise they should be able to retain staff just the same as Jubala is.
EDIT: That said, I’m not disappointed. I’ve eaten at one Gonza location exactly once - the food was fine - but the tacos were laughably tiny for the kinda insane price they were charging. There’s so much more amazing -and inexpensive - Mexican food/tacos elsewhere.
pro tip: Go back and split a mexican flag w/ someone, plus a starter… The mexican flag there is freaking unbelievable
anything doing fish and chips regularly downtown?
Try Hibernian. I’ve had it in the past.
Give Oak City Fish and Chips a shot. They are located in the Morgan Street Food Hall. I have visited too many times to count and the food is always excellent.
Yup, Gonza has had a reputation among my food industry friends for years as having awful ownership/management.
The Bridge aka London Bridge Pub also has good fish & chips
The nachos gabachos is huge.
Saw where Cycle Logic on Hillsborough will be closing in June. Getting on a bike in the urban setting can be a bit intimidating and their judgment free energy will be sorely missed.
The good news from that announcement was that they chose to not renew their lease and just retire. So more bittersweet than bitter- but well deserved!
Yatai posting cryptic stuff. They insist in comments that they aren’t closing. I dunno what they’re trying to to do here. Rename? Change of ownership?
