I mean, General Food is funny which would make it a fun name. Especially if they do a macho/military theme and have the logo/mascot be like a Hot Dog General with a cigar in his mouth.
Even Cromlets_4_Y’All would’ve been better…
Honestly I agree with this even if it seems silly. Maybe don’t judge a book by its cover, but you can get something from the title. It feels kinda like a default, which gives the impression of a lack of interest in experience and aesthetics.
That said I’m sure we can romanticize these things too much. Not every restaurant needs to be the culmination of someone’s life and artistic process. Naming things is also hard, and choosing a boring but easy name is actually a great strategy for not getting roadblocked. Not every restaurant story is The Bear.
Dunkin’ should go here. One that’s open regular hours. Need some chains in these crevices.
Really hoping The Berkeley is going to do a little extra (anything really) with the exterior:
Either way, I’m excited to see them back open, and even more excited for when they’re open for dinner. I wish they had been open last night - they would have made a pretty penny with all of the folks swarming nearby places to grab food before the show at Red Hat. The good news is that summer shows are only getting started.
We kind of already have one of those. Has everyone forgotten “Standard Beer + Food” exists? I haven’t been there in a hot minute, but last time I did, beer was good and the food on point.
I always thought those buildings should utilize their roof space.
Wouldn’t that be the responsibility of the landlord?
At this point the kitchen is so fiction that it doesn’t exist anymore.

@GucciLittlePig
Can’t believe a place called Brooklyn Pickle started in Syracuse. Blasphemy.
Also, a Brooklyn Pickle sounds like a term from Urban Dictionary…
But I’ll still check it out.
You mean the way the outline of the missing Fiction Kitchen sign is clearly visible still? Lol. Hoping they do actually get a sign of their own.
…the name of a drag queen. (Brook Lynn Pickle)
Brooklyn Pickle is legit. Excited to see them opening up down here!

Update on our Raleigh La Terrazza visit!
It was really great. The only thing that they didn’t have fully figured out was service from the bar, but I think that is something that will work itself out quickly. We were there on their first Friday night open which was a BEAUTIFUL night, plus NCSU graduation so I think they just had more people than they were fully prepared for.
The food was great IMO. I’m not some foodie critic but it was cooked really well and very flavorful. Lots of menu options with the focus being on really good ingredients rather than a complicated recipe. The noodles were al dente perfection.
My husband summed it up perfectly though: “I could sit here for hours drinking wine looking at a beautiful view.” The view is great. Definitely worth a visit; we will be back. I really hope they are successful!!
I took my wife on Friday and the place is really nice. The views are amazing. You’re right though, the bar service was super slow (which is fine for a brand new restaurant without their outside bar open). As for the food, it was ok, kind of like Mulino. Decent Italian food.
I had the Bolognese (pasta with meat sauce) and my wife had the pesto pasta. Great night out, passable food, and best views in Raleigh. I’d recommend.
How are the menu prices?
