Highwoods bought the property so they could turn it into a parking lot. That’s why it closed.
I mean they acted like it was gonna be a building, but since it’s Highwoods I think we all knew better.
A Cookout or Waffle House on Glenwood South would absolutely crush it
Highwoods… .CityPlat… is Kane the only serious local developer that actually delivers what they propose?
Smh. Did we really expect anything more from them?
Feel like they will crush it in the Fall once NC State students discover it.
If not, I figure the office workers and residents around there will help. I’ll certainly be there on weekends.
I think I may be in love
Hell yes, Press Durham is a go-to and it looks like they’ve brought the magic
Jason is a gem at hospitality and place making. This will be a great spot
When is Press opening? Or is it already open?
I think like today or tomorrow?
I’m glad they were able to keep this weird little building and give it a new life!
That weird little building was the replicated model for their business in the 60s and 70s.
In this article are examples from around the country, including two shots of Raleigh’s very own in the building’s IHOP days. That building was their brand.
FWIW, my friend’s father owned that location when I was in college.

IMO, Raleigh had one of the best examples.
We had many, many, many late night walks from Syme Hall to IHOP back in the day. I hated to see it close its doors (and move, then close for good). I’m glad the building survives even if is has a different use now.
In a way, it’s actually the same purpose but with a different menu!
