General Retail/Restaurant News

It’s also the part of the cow or other mammal that you milk. That’s what 99% of people think of when hearing that word. May as well open a peanut butter store next door called Deez Nuts…

Walked by this place the other night when they had their lights on getting close to wrapping up, and not going to lie, got the 2016 Craft brewery starter kit vibe

At very least maybe it can remind us of simpler times and bring Raleigh back to its pre-pandemic glory… :crossed_fingers:

Benchwarmers expanding to the Rockway! Great score for this development -
4,000 sq ft space, not a replacement for Transfer which will remain open.

Yes! Maybe this one won’t sell out before I’m even awake!

Edit: Ooh extended hours! I may be in luck!

The new restaurant’s space will have extended hours as well as its first beverage program outside of coffee. It’ll offer wine, beer and cocktails.
It also will give Benchwarmers a large patio to work with, facing both Saunders Street and the Rocky Branch Greenway that leads into Dix Park.
What’s next: Rockway is expected to be completed later this year, and Benchwarmers is eyeing an opening date in 2025.

It’s interesting that Rockway is already announcing commercial tenants even though it’s not completely finished and Platform’s only announced commercial tenant is the yoga studio that’s currently building out.

That’s a good advertisement for Transfer Co. if concepts can be successful enough to not only expand, but continue their operations in Transfer while doing so!

I believe the Capt. Cookie spot is expanding to North Hills while also remaining in Transfer!

I’ve always seen food halls like a see food trucks: a first step on the restaurant ladder! It’s good to see that model working.

Further confirms the need for small-scale/micro retail spots IMO

Would allow for so many more businesses to get a shot without paying absurd rent

Meanwhile, Oak City Fish & Chips just announced they’re closing their MSFH location permanently to focus on the food trucks and their other location. Says they make the bulk of their money from the food trucks. Source This comes after Cousin Maine Lobster announced their MSFH location’s closure a couple of months ago.

In one summer, Morgan St just lost two of their best vendors, while Transfer Co. is steadily getting better. I used to think MSFH was DTR’s premier food hall that appealed to more ppl, while Transfer Co. was moreso geared to the local/hip and experimental crowd, but with all the recent closures, I’m starting to appreciate Transfer Co’s business model a lot more. Especially when you factor in all of the events that happen there. Morgan St. just seems bland and soulless in comparison. And I’m sure $12k/month rent that the vendors have to pay doesn’t help. That’s way too expensive…I mean who do they really expect to pay that year after year?

Now if people would just make their employees come back to work in the offices, Fayetteville St would turn around!
