Aww… I love this concept, but I also really dug the vibe and decor of Neighborhood Bar… oh well, this is both a gain and a loss, so more of a lateral move haha
We lost a full day business, only to be replaced by a nighttime business that will likely only be busy on weekends. It’s just what we wanted.
Saw today that:
- The Bend Bar will open in the first of those 3 houses being renovated between Gussies and Trophy Morgan.
- Strada Risto Bar that recently opened on Glenwood had to change their name to Rocco’s Italian Bistro because a similarly named restaurant in Asheville filed a lawsuit.
Rocco’s is such a better name anyways.
Also speaking of Little Italy. It looks like Pierro’s has officially opened at 510 Glenwood Ave
Except now that means there can’t ever be a “Rocco’s Tacos” here which - while not a real thing - would’ve been cool had it ever existed. Now it can’t
Little It’aleigh … I know. I am like a dog and a bone, lol.
Ummm – check it out. We almost ate there (Rocco’s Tacos & TEQUILA BAR) last night… Menus | Naples | Mexican Restaurant in Naples, FL
All located in Glenwood South, all went live this year lol.
Rocco’s
Pierro’s
Anthony’s
Flour & Barrel
Vic’s Pizza
And the already existed establishments of Glenwood.
Mulino * questionably Glenwood South too.
Demo’s *I know it’s just pizza. But pizza is Italian.
Also Raleigh just got La Terrazza this year.
Is the mafia taking over our city lol? Could it be the Battaglia brothers (owner of Lucky B’s & Teets)? Their grandfather was a mobster.
I actually DID eat at Rocco’s Tacos last night, but in Orlando.
don’t forget mellow mushroom!
Puppy store with actual puppies coming to downtown. I’m an adopt don’t shop, type of guy. But I do have fond memories of going into the puppy stores growing up, just to play with them. May have to do that here lol.
Oh NOOOOOO…makes me sad.
I’m a complete dog fan, have a lovable lab myself. But PLEASE adopt, DON’T buy from a puppy mill like Petopia. Don’t ever BUY A DOG where you can’t meet the dog parents and see the conditions where they’re kept and raise. Wake County SPCA has TONS AND TONS of dogs to adopt for almost nothing. You don’t have to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to some inhumane business offering to “fly in buyers first class” as part of some concierge puppy buying service to get a “designer dog”. Gross.
DT Raleigh has already removed this posting and apologized for promoting it. Despite wanting to have more shops in DT Raleigh, I REALLY hope this one goes away FAST. Ugh, so sad.
Yeah sorry to a small business owner but I don’t support this at all either. I’ve been lucky to have rescued a 2 year old mixed breed 14 years ago who is still with me. Puppies are the best but I hate the idea of a puppy selling store downtown.
Don’t own a dog, so i understand im not a dog person and thus less empathetic, but the vitriol this business is receiving for simply opening. Dang. I guess i feel for the woman getting destroyed on social media just trying to open a business. Do we know this person running this business is unethical? Is it really such a problem to sell dogs? Obviosly there are puppy mills with disgusting conditions, do we know this one is one?
This doesn’t sound like a puppy mill at all, and some people want a purebred dog with consistent traits.
Adopting a dog is wonderful, but getting an established breed (or, siiiigh, a doodle) doesn’t make you a bad person.
I guess I agree with … all of you, on this one lol. Like I’m not gonna bash anyone for breeding or buying a bred puppy … but I also would certainly rather see more people adopt/rescue dogs vs buy one from a breeder. I guess my ultimate take is: unless puppy breeding is outright outlawed and banned, it’s gonna happen and those dogs still need homes, too.
The industry has a terrible history, and even in the best cases you have animals kept in stressful situations for long periods. There’s been a major campaign to end store sales for a couple decades, and it has largely worked. NY has just out lawed them as if 1/25.
I think buying from the breeder, at their kennel, where you can observe the conditions and the other dogs, is a more ethical way to purchase, and you make sure you get a well bred dog.
Of our 11 dogs over 25 yrs, 2 were bought, 9 were rescued. We did breed specific rescues, but pound dogs make wonderful fur buddies.
We have to force breed purebred puppies because all of the mutts and rescues are going to be deported per project 2025.
I asked on reddit and someone who seemed knowlegable replied that they’re missing information on the parents, health histories, and some other things that were red flags. That’s all I got.
I think you mean Project 14175 (dog years).
