General Retail/Restaurant News

I will say that the picture of the sandwich on that website is 100% AI. Bokeh effect is a little too perfect for a sandwich. Additionally, some of the pieces of meat morph into pieces of cheese.

Definitely, and I bet the paragraph above it is AI too. Not the best start! But if the food is good…

Wow. Is it too much for a forthcoming deli to, like, you know… make a sandwich???

Not sure if it’s been reported here yet, but I was pleased to see the former Gonzas spot on Hillsborough occupied by another Mexican concept.

Which only further tells me that it wasn’t the food/concept that didn’t work… I had heard that they had terrible management and a “nObOdy WaNtS tO WoRk AnYmOrE” attitude about it when they had staff turnover due to the poor management…

That’s true. Neither the concept nor the location was ever an issue. It had usually large crowds at peak time. Hopefully Lobera’s team will make a better success with it. It’s only been open a couple months but already got tons of high ratings on google. I think the menu is a touch more expansive than Gonza had, also…which definitely helps in the Mexican restaurant market.

I’ve been once. Will go back.

Much larger menu and I thought the portions/pricing were better as well. They’ve also advertised some good drink specials on their socials.

They also were never open when I wanted to go. I wrote them off as an option long ago.

In the N&O today: Japanese lifestyle retailer plans its first North Carolina location. A Japan-based company called Ebisu Life Store is making its North Carolina and Triangle debut with a location near Raleigh’s N.C. State University. The store, which sells home decor, snacks and drinks, toys, beauty products and other items, will occupy a 3,644-square-foot space on Hillsborough Street.

Anyone know what’s going on with Amorino?

I’m assuming a fancy ice cream shop by the bus station didn’t hit its demographic. Who knows tho

It always seemed pretty well used to me. It felt like I saw a lot of high school kids (with or without their adults) going there as a day/night out in the city.

As someone who lives nearby, I can assure you this place does a lot of business.

Maybe they badly failed a health inspection?

Their last was a 98 in November.

Yup, even this time of year, they always seemed to have quite a bit of business. Even when DGX was doing stuff.

Soft opening today at Willow Coffee. This place is just as cute as a bug in a rug. And Judy and Bryan are lovely.

Seating looks sparse, here’s hoping they have to increase the amount sooner than later!

Parking will be a challenge also. I think they are hoping to draw off the nearby apartments if I had to guess.

From the Triangle Biz Journal today
"North Hills in Raleigh is getting a dash of French luxury this winter.

A Chanel Fragrance and Beauty boutique is set to open at 4361 Lassiter at North Hills Ave. in the North Hills Main District."
They have a stand alone store in SouthPark Mall in Charlotte too.
