It seems like just yesterday that Raleigh was a bakery desert, and now we have bakeries and the like popping up everywhere! You gotta love it!
Sweet! ()
Reminds me of when PieBird was in that strip, when Raleigh and I were both younger.
right next door to oakwood pizza box, the best pie of another kind in raleigh
Some restaurant news, but not the kind we usually see. At Bowstring, no less!
Coincidentally saw an almost fight yesterday at 5pm at Glass Jug RTP where someone tried to fight a guy holding a toddler, and a bartender broke it up and the cops were called. Apparently Pi Day was also fight day.
Wtf is wrong with people?
We the Republic of Discontent, one nation tethered no longer to the middle that binds us, shall either doomscroll the artificial universe for a life we cannot achieve or break bad in public at the slightest offense rather than use discourse to achieve common accord…/s
I seriously have no words. Except WTF!!!
That is dangerously close to Hayes Barton! Must be those new townhomes…
Had the opportunity to say goodbye to a Raleigh institution last night. I’ve never seen the place so packed.Apparently every night since they announced their closure has been like this, with reservations selling out that same day. The service and food were impeccable last night. Definitely sad to see this place go, but took a few pics for posterity.
We popped our heads in yesterday. The wait just for a couple seats at the bar was two hours.
St. Patrick’s Day weekend, that’s what.

Haven’t been to The Merchant in years, but stopped by today at 5pm when they opened (my favorite time for a cocktail bar because it’s empty). Had a delicious drink there. Interesting to see their new space when they move, but this place has nice ambiance. The bartender said she didn’t know exactly when the move would be, but the sooner the better.
Sounds like whoever is leasing this building out needs to get out of the leasing business.
I’ve always really liked Virgils and The Merchant. Glad they’ll be continuing over in the former Architect space, but hate that that area on S Salisbury will be losing those two businesses.
Well, and as long as whoever owns the building is doing business in this fashion, it sounds like this block will continue to be a dead zone - and for good reason. Landlords from hell, from the sounds of it.
That description from squeeze was seriously painful to read
Haha, no way this was proofread and still published.
