Saif Rahman & Patrick Shanahan Announce Opening April 9th
Reveal Opening Menu & Reservations Live at Noon on RESY
[RALEIGH, NC — April 1, 2025] – One of the region’s “most anticipated” restaurant openings will debut April 9th: Peregrine – a soaring tribute to flavor, memory, and migration – is the visionary collaboration between award-winning Chef/Owner Saif Rahman and Artist/Owner Patrick Shanahan. Officially opening Wednesday, April 9th, Peregrine will begin accepting reservations today via RESY. View the menu & reserve.
Named for the migratory Peregrine Falcon, this dining destination is a love letter to the places and cultures that have shaped Rahman’s life’s journey – from his childhood home in South Asia to his new home in North Carolina. Rahman invites us to experience what first generation immigrant food means to him, modernized and refined in the American South.
Located at 1000 Social Street, Peregrine is the flagship restaurant for The Exchange, the 40-acre mixed-use development redefining Midtown. With its deeply personal, globally inspired cuisine and striking handcrafted “ancient-meets-modern” design, Peregrine promises to be an experience as moving as it is memorable.
Wow that’s quite the hyperbolic write-up! LOL
I hope it’s good. Moreover, I hope that area fills in, because a half-completed office building island in a sea of empty parking lots off Navaho [sic] Drive isn’t exactly the best location for a new business.
We’re one of the first tables for the soft opening this Wednesday at 5:30.
I’m really looking forward to it, I’ll take some pictures. There’s definitely lots of hype so far.
You can’t spell hyperbolic without hype!
To be clear, there’s a difference between them having recommended restaurants versus awarding stars, but this is still a cool thing for our whole area. I’m interested to see how it plays out.
I’m curious to see what restaurants people think would be worthy of a Michelin star in this area.
Scott Crawford’s restaurants, Stanbury, the M restaurants, Heron’s?
If this had been announced yesterday, I would’ve believed it was an April’s Fool joke.
I saw it on Instagram earlier and actually asked if it was a belated April Fools! LOL
We were able to attend the soft opening last night for Peregrine, it was honestly some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. The interior was really well done also, it’s just in an interesting location currently since the remaining buildings of the Exchange aren’t finished. I didn’t take any pictures of the food because I refuse to be that guy at dinner.
Unlikely Professionals is opening a second location in NHID this spring. It will be half bar/home goods store and half apparel, gifts, accessories. I like their original space, so I’m interested to see what this looks like.
I’d vote for Second Empire
g.58 Cuisine in Morrisville would be on my list but I agree with most of the ones suggested above…except Brodeto - it was fine but literally every dish we had there was way too salty (and I’m someone who oversalts my food to the point my tastebuds are shot) so not sure what was up with that
You can bet your bottom dollar that Ashley Christiansen’s and Scott Crawford’s establishments will be visited. I’d also expect Heron’s to be on their list. While it may feed on their presumed stereotypes of Southern food, expect them to visit rural barbeque joints, etc.
Prime BBQ will probably be visited.
Heh feed
Yeah I agree, and I think that’s kind of a shame and kind of condescending. But I won’t be surprised because food judges often do that nowadays. I’d also be expecting a lot of the Bib Gourmand recognitions where it’s about well made food at a good value, not expertly done fine dining that warrants a star or two.
A new 3,000 sq ft restaurant is part of the west side renovation of Ridgewood Plaza (the Whole Foods on Wade Ave).
According to this rendering, it will be called “Signage.”
Word on the street is that O2 Fitness At Seaboard Station is closing the end of April.
Sauna House is going in next door to Boulted Bread on DuPont Circle. Sauna House Durham: Bathhouse, Ice Bath, and Cold Plunge
Gotta sweat out those carbs…
