Only went to Angus Barn once. I’ve had steak that was twice as expensive that was not even better. I’m not the target demographic for either place though.
Best steak I recall having was grilled at home anyway.

So this is the Rockway site? Looks very nice inside.
Agreed. You go to AB for the experience and decent food, not because they have the best in the area.
Work on Voodoo Brewing appears to have kicked off.
Angus Barn is a Raleigh Christmas tradition. Up there with the Capitol tree lighting ceremony and the Christmas Parade.
Since I love the Angus Barn what is the target demographic just curious?

Well I guess I am a wealthy country person who drives a truck who loves the Angus Barn who evidently has simple tastes yet I love farm to table restaurants and places like Steak 48 too but they are lot more expensive. (check out Steak 48’s menu in Charlotte makes Angus Barn look cheap)
But seriously when I went that rainy Sunday night I saw several young couples, lots of families, yes older folks but lots of people having a good time. It really is like Yogi Berra said ““Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded,” Can’t wait to go dine there again and yes I will drive one of my pick up trucks!
I’m pretty sure you know, but I wanted to say I was absolutely just joking around. It’s not my favorite place, but it’s fun to visit around the holidays just for the general experience.
I would agree that the regular AB is more about show than value (quality/price). The Wine Cellar, well, that can be a different story (at least it was when Walter Royal was there) but it’s very difficult to get into unless you have a private party large enough to book a room.
I prefer Vinnie’s for steak.

People with money. The steak was good imo. The gravy was top shelf.
What was the gravy going with because it definitely should not be going on a steak.
you’ve never had mashed potatoes before?
I’m not a mashed potato person. Thanks for clarifying!

Got here at 1pm, waited in the slowest line ever just to order (how hard is it to order a bagel?), and they were out of some stuff as expected. But they actually had most of their stuff, which is a vast improvement over the one at Transfer that runs out and closes by 8 am. Beautiful space and friendly people. And they have the old school ninja turtles arcade game, among others.
i’m a fan of benchwarmers but I will never understand how they can be so slow ![]()
People are saying Sono has the best ramen, even over Miso Ramen. I love both and couldn’t pick but I do think Daijobu needs to be considered as well. ![]()
