The spicy seafood ramen is the stuff of dreams

I haven’t been to Daijobu myself yet but my friend is an acclaimed chef who relocated from LA and she said no one in the Triangle comes close to Daijobu for more casual Japanese. I keep meaning to give it a try

Was going to say the same thing. I’ve tried all the ramen downtown Raleigh has to offer. Nothing comes close to Daijobu. They even foam the broth for their Tonkotsu.

The ramen was excellent, I didn’t much care for the hand-rolls. But the vibe inside the restaurant itself is really cool - without ever having been to Japan, it feels like I imagine a Tokyo ramen spot would feel

Doesn’t take reservations, not open for lunch on the weekends. It’s like they don’t want me to visit…

I wasn’t really sure where to put this, but the former Young Hearts Distilling space apparently is now home to some type of center for young Jewish professionals, with co-working and event space, etc. While not young or Jewish myself, I think this is an interesting concept, considering how very little Jewish cultural presence has been in the mainstream of Raleigh historically, but also considering the influx of new residents from other parts of the country.

Welcome to CYP Raleigh, your center for Jewish life in your 20s and 30s. We’re building a vibrant, down-to-earth community for young Jewish professionals who want more—more connection, more meaning, and more goodness in their day-to-day lives.

Whether it’s at shul, the coworking space, or special events, this is your place to build relationships, foster Jewish pride, and show up for yourself and your community.

While it’s nice to see vacant spaces being filled, I’m disappointed that another prime restaurant/retail/bar location downtown is being taken up by something with such a limited appeal to the general public.

I think the roof area is still a for-rent event space (or at least it was when I last looked into it over the summer).

I still think rentable event spaces are wasted space in the grand scheme of things. A: the space is only used when rented… otherwise it’s sitting vacant and useless, B: these spaces are generally only rented out for a pretty limited variety of uses, and C: they offer nothing to the general public/pedestrian experience in a city - just more closed off/inaccessible than already exists… which is a lot hahaha. Event spaces are a dime a dozen in this damn city…

I agree. I love that space and wish someone could put a concept in there that would work long term and wasn’t just a revolving door of one thing after another. Wish it was a spot I could stop in after work to grab a drink at the bar or on the roof.

Anyone know what is planned to go in the Ridgewood Shopping Center with their current construction? There is a new Restaurant space opening up next to Ridgewood Wine & Beer.

I just saw that Vita Vite is closing. Last day is December 14th. :frowning:

Hmmmmm… I know the whole (now all gravel surface lot, former Goodwill building) next door has been slated for development… wonder if this building sold to be included with it??

I saw that the N&O said Lucky Asian Fusion was supposed to be opening there. Same ownership group as Wongs Tacos that opened in GlenLake.

Such a bummer. I’m hoping something great goes in there, like how Figulina came in after Humble Pie. But I’m not confident it won’t end up as more parking.

Oh no! I love that place. How sad. One last meetup?

That is dissapointing, but thanks for the info. Looks like an article just popped up yesterday. I’m a fan of the Taco Bamba and Drift additions, but don’t see myself frequenting a place with $25 bento box often, if ever.

Meet up Dec 11th when I’m in town. I mean, I’ll be going so if anyone wants to meet up.

My guess is Lindsay will be selling this property to be as sampled with the problem a lot. 100% my guess. No :bird:

We had a nice crowd at the last monthly happy hour at Vita Vite so could easily plan it for December.
