General Retail/Restaurant News

Planning my thanksgiving week trip, and seeing Wongs mentioned again, I was happy to discover it is just anout in my folks backyard. I will be trying them. Reading their story, it makes me think of how awesome a fast train to Richomd would be.

Raising Canes opening in 2026. I was originally so hype for this.

But with Guthries being just as good + they have a drive thru.

They should do well there.

Absolutely. This will become a staple for NC State students and more.

Since there is a perceived lack of parking in the area, and this space is pretty large, it’s probably good that a well-known entity is going here. Sadly, H-Street, LaStella and the Asian restaurant didn’t have that, and they all failed. I think this one will actually stick for a while and become a draw for the street.

Coming into town this morning there was a survey crew working in front of Circus Family Restaurant there at Wake Forest/Brookside/Automotive

Agreed. I’d really been hoping someone like Sammy’s would open a sports bar here. I really think H Street would have been great here had they put the “ambiance” and menu closer to East Village type of food than somewhere you’d go out to dinner downtown.

Glad to see the space activated and it will add to the pedestrian traffic on the street - just wish it was something a bit more exciting.

like for CARS? :scream:
LOL. There’s people on here who will scalp you for saying anything pro-car or pro-DRIVETHRU. Some even want drive thru’s banned. HAHA.

Do we know what is going in its place, if anything?

No, it would be way too early for that kind of info.

I especially like this because they don’t have a drive-thru.

If you clutch the pearls too tight, the string might break.

I’ll take the bait though and try to respond as politely and objectively as possible.

Simply put, not everywhere needs to prioritize the car. The city prioritizes the car in nearly all of its land area, and I’m tired of of the car victimhood that always comes out when anyone dares to suggest that even a tiny part of our city needs to place priority on pedestrians, bicycles, and other forms of transportation, and make efforts to take people out of their cars in the very neighborhoods & environments that are paying more than their fare share of property taxes that help fund the car induced sprawl sections of the city.
I couldn’t care less about drive-thrus in the suburban (most) parts of the city. Knock yourselves out with clogged suburban streets and inhaling the exhaust of the car in front of you. It’s your choice and the city offers you that choice in spades. I will however continue to fight for limiting parking and drive-thrus in densifying urban parts of our city where the businesses can thrive on patrons who access by foot, bus, or bike.
