Where is this info coming from? Hadn’t heard that announced.
My boss and his boss where just in the office giving the news. Customers will be able to still come in during those hours to conduct business.
I work on a food truck. Haven’t had a shift in 9 days. If someone doesn’t step in, the only restaurants left will be chains. I don’t know if anyone has linked it, but David meeker suspended rent payments for his tenants. That might save a few businesses.
The city should jump in and prorate some types of property taxes as well.
I posted the Tweet about 12 posts up.
Rex has been having food trucks since Thursday to make up for their own food service being limited. It’s been nice.
There have been a few places in the county that are doing this. There are a ton of trucks in the triangle though, so not enough spots for everyone. Depends on the business model of the trucks too. Our owner doesn’t work on the truck which ups labor costs. Tough for them to justify grabbing a shift when they don’t even know if they’ll break even.
WRAL reporting that Ashley Christensen is temporarily shutting down all of her restaurants. Beasley’s still taking orders today, but then closing. All of her other places already shut.
Its my understanding that non essential retail has been ordered closed.
I just liked the sign on the left side of the image.
Bring back Square Rabbit!
Speaking of restaurant news as we settle into the COVID reality, I’m curious where folks on this forum are spending their takeout monies? Who’s doing a great job right now adapting to the challenges?
Any stories anyone has that should be shared so others know there about places out there still doing a bang up job that could use our support?
We’ve done walkup/pickup at Raleigh Times, Virgil’s, Lucky Lady (Glenwood) and The Station. All very good and I’d order from again, though we’re trying to spread the love. Also picked up beers from State of Beer, North Street Beer Station and Little City. All thumbs up!
As far as downtown places we’ve been to in the last few weekends:
Whiskey kitchen has delivery through their own website, plus their menu includes some take and bake casserole type dishes to feed multiple people
St Rochs has switched their menu to a bit more sandwich based options and is also doing delivery through their own website
Alimentari is doing meal kits that you can order online and pickup plus you can shop for meat and cheese. When you get there you knock on the garage door, so they’re allowing in one person (or couple) at a time.
We’re trying to spread it around too. We hit a few of AC’S places the 2 weekends prior, but obviously those are closed now
We’ve gotten beer from burial, food from sushi-o and beer/food from Trophy, so far.
We’ve done Oakwood Pizza Box (delivery through Postmates), Parkside (pickup, but I think they’re also offering delivery), and Wye Hill (pickup). All did a great job.
We’ve had great take out meals from Crawford, Plates, Alimentari, Morning Times, Stanbury, Mulino, Capital Club 16 and State of Beer. All were great.
While I don’t live in DTR, we have been trying to support only mom and pop establishments within a mile or two of our house in NW Raleigh. But we did make a run to Lilly’s Pizza last weekend.
