General Retail/Restaurant News

Gotten beer from Pelagic, ice cream from Two Roosters, beer/pizza from Oakwood Pizza, Chinese from Jade Garden (like we always did before anyway), and dinner from Tobacco Road

@OakCityDylan Is Little City just growlers / crowlers? Or are they canning in smaller quantities now?

I haven’t eaten any takeout in about 2 weeks at this point, but even before the lockdowns happening across the country, I have to give major props to Sola Coffee in North Raleigh for doing things SUPER right, even before the severity of this pandemic starting becoming apparent (aka long before any other restaurants starting taking more precautions) - they moved all the self-serve items (sugar, water, utensils, napkins, etc) behind the counter, they moved tables further apart (up until they stopped doing in-house service altogether), they immediately switched to card payments only- and installed no touch card readers so none of the employees had to handle customer cards. They really went above and beyond before any other place around here.

Crowlers only last I checked. Need to stock back up though.

Matt Robinson at RaleighSkyline.com used to put some pretty good photos for April Fools every year. One of them was moving a building from DTD to DTR. Another was the BB&T building being demolished. Would be awesome if he could post some today.

Just got an email from Jolie/Crawford & Sons. While the email was focused on their Crawford Hospitality Employee Relief Fund where 100% of the donations go to their furloughed workers, they also mentioned Crawford Curbside.

Our Crawford Curb Side offerings are still available with a fresh menu updated daily. Visit our website to see the menu and order by phone Tuesday - Saturday starting at 2pm. Pick up is between 4-8pm.

I wasn’t aware they were offering curbside so we’ll probably give them a try tonight.

Also trying to spread it around, we’ve done J Betskis, Berkley, Pelagic for beer, Sosta and Cup a Joe for coffee plus Weaver street and Reebus Works for groceries. Leaving bigger tips too.

Reebus and Weaver St for the win!

Reebus really has a good amount of stuff…lots of frozen meals, meat, oat milk, good beer supply (including the hard to find Utica Club for all the western new yorkers). Weaver Street now has call ahead and curbside pickup in a 30 minute specified window.

Hey Everybody,
Dont forget about the Rockford on Glenwood south. It has an awesome menu available for carryout and is also selling sundries at this time. :grinning: Just go to online ordering on the website for all of the options.

You are right. New ownership is awesome.

Agreed! Had dinner there a few weeks ago after not having been there in a long time. We were blown away by our fantastic meal because it was mediocre the last time we were there (probably a couple of years ago).

Good to hear positive reviews of The Rockford. Haven’t been in a long time. Looked at the menu and there’s no ABC. ? I hope they add it back.

I think that’s old information. We boozed it up last month.

I’m pretty sure we’re talking about the Apple Bacon Cheddar sandwich they used to make.
