Took my partner and baby momma there on our first date. Actually I took a few people there on a first date but don’t tell her :zipper_mouth_face: It was sort of a litmus test for me back using their old menu…

You can expect the ABC sandwich to return soon.

Carroll’s Kitchen reopened. Anyone have any insight into what went on? They’re doing curbside pickups including meal kits for dinner now.

Turkey Bacon Avacado was better but who I am to argue with lore. The ABC there is a thing of lore.

R¿ddle Raleigh shutdown some time ago and gone for good.

Chuck’s is also gone for good as well. Beasley’s will expand into the space.

I still haven’t opened a restaurant but probably a good thing since this Coronavirus would have killed my savings.

Riddle me this. How many days was R?iddle Raleigh actually open? :face_with_monocle:

Woah. That’s big news.

Yeah. Not a bad thing for me. I think the age of the fancy burger has had its time, and it was the only one of her restaurants I never wanted to try. Good for Beasley’s tho!

Sad to lose Chuck’s. As for Riddle, I don’t wish ill on them obviously, but I went there once and was not impressed.

Some happy restaurant news: Cheetie Kumar of Garland has been named a finalist for best chef in the southeast by the James Beard Awards! Huge honor. She was previously a two- time semifinalist. Would be awesome if she won. That would really build on AC’s big win last year.

Of AC’s restaurants, Chucks was my least favorite. Sounds like no staff will be impacted, so kind of too bad, but mostly cool for more room at Beasley’s.

I never made it to R?ddle, but it is sad to see any locally owned business close for good.

I’ll be honest, I thought Chuck’s SUCKED. Burgers were thin and dry, and not filling. Fries were soggy. Both times I’ve tried it. We have so many great burger places in Raleigh, this is not a loss.

Good. Always wondered why a JBA winning chef couldn’t make a burger place work? Like MJ not being able to shoot a free throw.

I have to agree with you. And if anyone really wants one of their burgers, they are still on the menu at Beasley’s.

I’ll disagree here. I always thought the food was delicious, fries crispy, and the onion rings were my favorite in Raleigh. I’ll miss this place.

I’ll second that, this was one of my favorite burger places, not favorite burger alone, but top 3 places for burgers if that makes sense. I reserve the best burger in Raleigh to Players Retreat personally.

Chucks was one of a few places in town willing to be creative on burgers they weren’t terrible and impossible to eat like Whalburgers. The different sauces they had for the fries were all good and different in their own way, it also wasn’t expensive in comparison. Also I have eaten there dozens of times and never received a burger thin or dry, but I also like them cooked on the rare side so maybe that’s why.

Oh I like em cooked rare/med-rare, as well. Like I said, it was only twice I tried it - a “fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me” scenario where I may have just happened to have 2 mediocre experiences that kept me from ever wanting to go back. One of those times I went with a friend who actually worked there, and he said they had recently changed their fries, but for the worse - apparently they used to be some of the best fries around, and even he- an employee at the time- admitted the change to the fries sucked. The burgers themselves were FINE (not terrible), but just not worthy of the higher price, when I could get a (IMO) better burger cheaper at MoJoes.

To each their own! You were luckier in your experiences than I! Never tried the onion rings!
