I go back and forth between MoJoes and Players Retreat for best burgers, both are awesome choices. Just the thought of being able to sit on the patio of either restaurant and drink a beer while eating seems so far away
So far away? They could possibly be open as soon as Friday.
Unfortunately restaurants are still mandatory take out / delivery only through at minimum May 22nd.
Maybe you are thinking about SHAQ not being able to shoot free throws??
I personally thought Chuck’s was delicious just overpriced. Not sad about it though since the menu will be melted together. The larger space for Beasely’s is great and will allow me to eat there more often without being turned away by the long wait time.
I would say probably the weakest AC restaurant.
I travel a lot including several times to Belgium and the rest of Benelux. Chuck’s fries should have not been called ‘Belgian fries’.
Yes. I see that now. I have read that they estimate 20% of all restaurants will end up closing due to the shutdown. Waiting another two weeks will not help that situation. I still currently eat out on the Fayetteville St plaza if the weather is nice. Not sure if that is allowed really but nobody has ever said anything.
Is it me or did the menu there never change? Not that a restaurant’s menu needs to change if you’re crushing it and everyone loves what you’ve always had, but as others mentioned it always seemed to be way less busy than Beasley’s so you’d think they would have mixed up the menu some. (Come to think of it I don’t know that I’ve seen anything on Beasley’s menu change from years ago either.)
Looking at the restaurant reviews on Google Maps it looks like it’s stayed mostly the same for the duration of the restaurant’s life.
We always liked Chuck’s but if a few items go over to Beasley’s, I’m good with that. I do remember when they first opened that most people balked at the price. I think you’d pay $16 or so for a burger and fries. Granted the burger was BIG! Easy solution for me and my wife was to split it.
They then offered a smaller version of the burger which I thought hit the spot, size and price point.
This is coming from a Char-grill kind of burger guy, by the way.
Social distancing will be much easier with the spaces combined. Both were a bit tight and they’ll get much more pleasant distant seating this way.
Not good news…
Replace “North Carolina’s” with “the country’s”
Do landlords and utilities not have a vested interest in keeping these places open? Seems silly to me that they will force collection if it means all of these places have to close. Also - what will all these people do with themselves? Go on permanent unemployment? No, I imagine they will start over. Restaurateurs are well accustomed to failing and starting fresh.
Honestly? Don’t you think this is a bit doom and gloom? That’s a real question. Half? Half of NC’s restaurants are going to close?
Well I heard 20% would probably close last week. Now I have seen this 50%. It will probably be somewhere in between those two. Hopefully they will get breaks on their bills and such so that they can remain open.
Well the only time 50% was mentioned in that WRAL article was in the headline. They don’t know what is going to happen anymore than you or I. Fear porn at its finest.
Yes. It seemed like an arbitrary number with no real basis. My feelings is that if they are still open now they will probably survive. I am more worried about the ones who have already closed down.
I’ll stay off my soapbox as much as possible but this virus has produced a lot of experts in a number of fields very quickly. As said above, it’s fear porn and click bait and only each of us can choose what to do with it and/or how to react to it. The federal government will provide over $4 TRILLION in relief (that’s close to 20 percent of the 2019 US GDP!) and probably another $3 TRILLION in indirect relief. All that and only 50 percent of NC restaurants will make it? Something is wrong.
It’s headlines like that why I can’t take WRAL very seriously.
Click bait panic porn.
The internet has lead to a devolution of many things, like news.
In other ways its been fantastic like this form.
Thanks so much @dtraleigh !!!
