I’m sure that getting them involved wouldn’t hurt any
Sharing from The Triangle Food Blog:
The Flying Mayan (which had originally planned to open in December) at 319 Fayetteville Street in the former Wahlburger’s space, is now looking to open in June. Billing itself as a place where “the Southwest meets the Southeast,” The Flying Mayan specializes in “fresh, made from scratch sauces, salsas, and menu items that have their roots in both regions.” It is being developed by the same team behind the Flying Burrito, located on Grove Barton Road.
WRAL is reporting 5 star will close their warehouse district location at the end of May and will begin their transition into the new space, which they hope to open by the end of June. Their instagram post says they have been in the warehouse district location for 25 years!!
How is this not called “The Flyin’ Mayan”?
That ‘g’ was important to their brand
Here’s a short free session from Blue Lotus Yoga.
At Flying Biscuit in Cameron Village for breakfast. Highly recommend given these trying times and a desire to eat in a open area. We love breakfast and their set up here is perfect.
If you could just get the basics for a restaurant and mount them into a panel truck, you could move it around to where the space and the people are.
Curious for history/information on “Seven” located up near 5 points. Any accounts of this building outside of the fact it’s now an entertainment venue?
I saw something about it on a downtown picture forum recently. I got distracted by the dalmatian in front of it tho…
It’s definitely a cool looking building. I want to go see it in person now.
From the pictures of the interior, it looks like the premier location for a steampunk-themed wedding.
This is what it used to look like: Parcel Photos - 0025886
Wow! What a bland building (before). While I’m confused looking at the building now, I do love how it’s almost hidden now with 15-20 years of tree growth and it’s just a unique looking building with the alterations.
I know the owner, the inside is even more elaborate than the couple pictures they provided and has two levels. Very Moroccan style vibe inside. Cool place, but I’ve never been to an organized event there so I cannot speak on how the space feels packed, we were inside with just a few of people.
Sexual Assault Accusation & Secretly Recording Sex Tapes by Brewery Bhavana & Bida Beverage Director Jordan Hester
Van (the owner along with his sister Vanvisa) has also been accused of sexual assault. He has already admitted fault to an earlier incident in which a black employee was called a “slave” by a manager and allowed to keep her job for several weeks (at which point she resigned).
Just ordered a chicken burrito here. The burrito was covered in melted cheese (broiled) and there was more rice and beans than chicken. I would describe it as Midwest-Mex if anything.
Apparently Calavera has reopened under new ownership. I haven’t been but I get the impression that it’s more general (Americanized) Mexican fare and no longer focused on empanadas.
Went out to eat Saturday night and the experience sucked. I understand why some if not most full service restaurants are still doing takeout only.
Oh yeah I saw them open yesterday afternoon. I was very confused. I still care more about Bloc 83 phase 3 than their continuing business model evolution. But good for them being able to open back up for now at least!
From the Card it seems to have only existed as a developed parcel since 1979. It was some sort of high school for a bit. The parcel shape does not appear to be part of the original Glenwood Plat as it includes all of the creek drainage behind it up to the low income apartments that are there. The parking lot may have had a 1920’s house until the 90’s but its hard to say for sure the parcels seem to be combined now and the previous record would have been erased from the online info.
