So, if it fails, will it be because of the name?
If it fails it will probably be for the same reason that everything else in that space has failed.
Same owner as Haymaker (G) and year drinks are pretty good. Haven’t tried the small plates yet. Definitely worth trying out and they do have a small outdoor seating area.
When I picked up Lawrence BBQ from there previously amidst the Covid-scape, there was talk that Jake Wood was ‘involved’ in the menu build of small plates. That’s a good sign.
I’ve enjoyed a couple visits to Haymaker on ‘off nights’. G / Eschelon has a pock-marked resume of establishments however and based on this location’s history, this one has some work to do.
Wonder if it’s some sort of negative or off-putting charge from Power House lines…?
While names matter, isn’t the golden rule: location, location, location. ? I’ve been to 2 restaurants since early February, so I am really not one to judge. One was called Perry’s, and it was not run nor did it serve platypus. (Phineas and Ferb reference for those of you with kids of a certain age, lol)
Videri is opening a walk-up soft-serve window. Way to adapt and overcome. I love innovation that involves ice cream!
Yes! More of this please
Attention Eastsiders! You’ll be getting a new bottle shop at 231 S East St very soon. I know the wife/husband team behind Roshambo Beverage Company, and they say they’re getting close to opening.
This post is from May, but they personally mentioned yesterday that they’re in the home stretch.
There are some very interesting characters that reside in the apartments there. Should provide lots of flavor to that establishment.
The owners have experience managing a popular barcade and the live music scene, so I’m confident they will be running a business that will add character to the neighborhood.
Somehow, though, I sense that you’re using “character” as a euphemism. Might as well just say what you mean.
Just what I meant, characters. I spent a week at an Air B&B there waiting for my place to get finished. Don’t know what you are trying to say.
Please enlighten me to your definition of characters.
I’m sure whatever it is, it’s off topic.
My GrandPa used to always say to me that ‘folks get to go to school longer these days but it don’t mean sense is more common’ and I often think how sage that was when the world we live in could use a little more patience to seek context. Now, he would tell me that because he knew I was going off to a world he’d never ventured into and it was meant to foster checks and balances against impulse.
He also used to say ‘Poor people can’t afford cheap shit’. That one’s a doozy also…
Bigfoot Taphouse open at 222 Glenwood.
Just a block away from another self-pouring place (Cloud). Haha.
They just put lipstick on the previous place.
Yep haha.
Although it is nice how many retail spaces there are under this apartment building. Pretty impressive honestly.
The updated menu with his new items (about halfway down) is up now. I am drooling over basically everything he’s bringing with him.

I’d be drooling over this as well, 'cause there’s no way in hell I’m paying $155 for a steak that’s mostly bone even if I’m splitting it with 4 other people! What the heck is this on the menu for???
EDIT: @GucciLittlePig, happy to split this with you if you’re paying.
