This perfectly illustrates the dichotomy of humans and their purchasing experience / expectations…
Humans are truly quite interesting organisms.
I wonder what’s up with AC’s BB Crispy Chicken? Last update I heard was location 1 of 3 was supposed to open near Wegmans Raleigh this summer. But I haven’t heard anything since Corona life.
Unfortunately for the restaurants the current situation has turned many of us into great cooks, and with less money coming in have realized it’s much less expensive and fun.
Prepackaged meals are a dime a dozen and comes right to the front door.
I do see ppl wanting to support the folks downtown but how long can they go.
Somehow we can manage to open the pools in the city with ppl spitting all over the place but not the restaurants and bars with proper precautions.
Agree. Restaurants, especially high end ones downtown, have no chance under current rules.
Briggs Hardware will be moving soon, but plans to stay in downtown:

I wonder if they would look at Smoky Hollow?
Not sure if it has been reported, but I heard B. Good downtown has shuttered for good. Has anyone else heard anything?
So does the food get teleported to people’s houses? Still have to go pick it up or have a delivery service grab it and that would seem to equal physical lines.
Ah damn, not sure how I feel about this. It’s in a cool spot. I hope that space doesn’t end up becoming another generic office or another damn bar.
Fayetteville street streetscape is a fail on that end. Until it becomes more inviting and a cluster of restaurants develops, nothing will stick.
I don’t know what the typical pickup is like for a GrubHub/PostMates/UberEats driver, but I’ve occasionally seen them picking up from from a restaurant and walk away with 4-5 separate orders at a time. Saw 3-4 drivers pick up over the course of 5-10 minutes at Kebab and Curry once when I was waiting on my order. They probably took away about 10-15 bags all told. And the restaurant seemed to have the bags grouped together and ready for them pretty much as soon as they arrived (much to my jealousy, as the smell of Indian food has a way of circumventing the superego), so I’m guessing maybe the restaurants have their own version of the apps that tells them each delivery driver’s ETA and which orders they’ll be picking up. It seems like the coordination could cut down on lines a lot.
4-5 deliveries? Even if you could coordinate at the restaurant, that’s a huge lag time on delivering. 20% chance you get the first house, 20% chance you get cold mush. I stopped getting a local pizza place a few years ago because of something similar. I’m not even exactly positive what happened, but I ordered delivery like usual and it came over an hour late and cold. The driver said the grubhub orders took too long. I don’t know if he was doing double-duty or what.
I’m not 100% sure; maybe some of the orders had more than one bag? Or they were all pretty close to one another? It’s right on State’s campus, so I could see that being the case as well. I haven’t actually used any of those food delivery apps, so I’m not really sure on the details or what the typical delta from order to delivery is.
I hope their service improves. It’s never matched the amazing decor and food has never impressed me. I’ll certainly give it another try after Katsuji gets his claws into the menu.
I am still struggling with that name. Is there some hipster ironic meaning I am missing?
If there is, I’d be the last to know. I just assumed it was like naming a bar Buzzkill as a joke…like, we’re no fun. Or calling your bar a dive bar. But maybe you’re right. I guess we’ll see.
Does not sound like a fun place to visit.
