I mean, if one can sit at a table in Carolina Ale House for 90 minutes without a mask because there’s food then idk what you want from a musician sitting in front of their instrument without a mask… #hypocrisy

Looks like Lawrence BBQ will be setting up Monday’s and Tuesday now at Wye Kitchen calling it “Pop Up on the Patio.” Jake’s a good friend of mine and could use the support, his food is really good as well.
Starts at 5pm and will be first come first serve.

I made a reservation to sit outside on Sitti’s new patio tonight for dinner. Out of curiosity I asked the receptionist if the windows were still boarded up with plywood, and she confirmed that yes they were still up because tomorrow night will be another demonstration. From her words specifically “Yes, and I wish we could take them down, it’s killing our business”.

It’s my impression that Labor Day weekend in Raleigh is always a slower weekend. Great for locals though!

They now board up on just the rumor apparently.
Was downtown all day yesterday. Every table outside the Raleigh Times was full plus the rooftop seating. Got dinner on the outside Patio at Sitti, it was almost full as well. Paddy O’Beers also had opened back up and almost all their sidewalk tables were taken. The trolley pubs were back up and running as well. Most people I’ve seen out eating/drinking/walking around in awhile.

can confirm that north hills was packed, as well. went to stir for brunch and almost every table was occupied.

Anyone here have connections to someone with a parking lot or a plot of land in downtown Raleigh that is not in use? Would probably need for a few months, the concept includes drinks/food. I have this really cool idea in mind, that I may pursue, just don’t know if I can find the right property in downtown to pull it off.
Most of the surface lots are barely in use nowadays. The one on Wilmington across from Charter Square is almost completely empty whenever I walk by.

That’s my thought. Would love to potentially take over one for a while. Just need to find the landowners and see if they’ll lease a vacant property to me temporarily, so if anyone has any leads please let me know. I also need to figure out if I can even get the green light legally to do this. Will be making calls this week to figure this out.

I can confirm that Saturday 09/05/20 around 2:00pm North Hills was packed full of people, eating, walking around enjoying themselves.

Guys, I have to say, our city is dead. I just went for a short walk and hardly anyone on the streets. 8pm…pretty Tues evening.
Btw anyone notice that Apex outfitters is now no longer? Sad, as I think they opened it last year. We are shedding retailers so fast. I don’t have a good feeling personally, I hope one of you can make me feel different.
The only sign of people I see, sadly, are the g***** in different pockets. Ok I can’t say the word but I don’t know what else so help fill in please
I just hope that this was an anomaly, but again Apex and the other retailers, that is not. Thank you

I love the high expectations but to be honest, one snapshot in a part of town that’s mostly closed isn’t all doom for downtown in general.
There lots of folks prepping the bustle of Glenwood South. You should also check out Moore Square with lots of Camp Gladiator classes during the morning, lunch and evening hours. Weekdays are hit or miss but that’s nothing new from my POV.
We’ll get there. Until then, let’s talk solutions.
