That video is cool, bringing up basically what we call greenways at the end. I continue to believe we should be 10xing our commitments to greenways because it could significantly help recreation and commuting, and creates a differentiator to other cities. I know a guy literally taking greenways in an electric bike from Cary to Durham!

This is basically what the rickshaws were (before scooters put them all out of business) but with a worse environmental impact.
As someone who lives downtown and thinks nothing of walking from Boylan Heights to City Market to get ice cream after dinner, the laziness of people is baffling.

I get the impression that they’re the same as the rickshaw taxis. No base charge, but tipping is highly encouraged

I am praying that my office will be moving downtown in 2021, and have already plotted my daily commute via Greenways to work. I am a huge proponent of vastly expanding the Greenway system.

The Town of Cary has a extensive Greenway Plan in place. It will quite significant if it ever completely gets built out. And will have connectivity to neighboring cities.

There’s a guy at my work who rides from Clayton to downtown for work 100% on greenways. It’s something like 30 miles.

That is incredible. I had to Google map his likely route. Looks like it wouldn’t be possible to do such a ride without the Crabtree Creek Greenway that goes under 440 near the exit for 264.
I would love to see more such bike/pedestrian penetrations of 40/440.
If more people could get downtown without needing to drive there we’d have more people who care about downtown.

I personally hope it never actually happens. Seems unnecessary to say the least. Maybe in the immediate downtown area which already hardly has any drive-throughs …

In a time when more than 1/3rd of Americans are obese and we’ve just concluded the hottest month ever it would still take a miracle to get this to happen in Raleigh.

It looks like crews have begun working on 540? I live near Ten-ten road and there’s working crews setting up flags and digging up some types of paths off Holland Church road.

Yep — construction crews have also set up camp at the site of the NC-50 exit. The section between 401 and 40 is set to begin construction shortly.

its a lot of millions. just didnt feel like taking the time to add up all the various projects, studies, designs, right-of-way purchasing, and construction, etc. 2020-2021 will be big for transit
