Well my wife is Polish and doesn’t drive, she is deeply unhappy with not only the bus system here but with the GoRaleigh station situation. We live just two blocks away and she is learning on to drive. She tried to take the bus every now and then but as a woman she feels unsafe with both riding the bus and using the GoRaleigh bus station. She’s experience being yelled at on bus and the general unclean situation. The busses smell, they’re not cleaned regularly, the bus station is full of smokers that will blow smoke in your face. In the end of the day, the issue with the GoRaleigh system is the organization and the current bus station. The organization does not care to make riding the bus safe and clean and the bus station is not comfortable, it doesn’t feel safe, and if you’re sensitive to smells and smoking, completely unhygienic. My Polish wife would love public transportation, GoRaleigh/GoTriangle has changed her mind.

Told ya I deal with the same stuff riding the bus. But we have to address the obvious, we have to be tough on these people regardless of who they are and we have weak judges letting these people go after committing a crime or in some cases 60+ crimes.
I’m aware there are biases but the same people keep doing this stuff it’s like 90% of them are this way and the rest of them like 10% are civilized. The truth is people experiences with these people have generally been negative, we’re not biased we just have pattern recognition which is colorblind and people have bad experiences with these people one of those experiences could be when your on I-40 and you see a Nissan Altima speeding on the shoulder. And you’re like WTF you not supposed to do that becasue if they were it just be another lane in the highway.
It not just that growing up my dad exposed this to me they lack proper decorum, I went to Exploris Middle School all they do is beg, smoke marijuana drink liquor and just be nuisance. People don’t want to be around that. It’s why you have people fighting against transit they don’t wanna be around that degeneracy. That’s why successful people from that demographic the moment they get a little money they leave there neighborhood.
Also this is why people prefer trains over buses mostly low income people ride the bus. Trains are full of civilized people.
Who are these people? Please explain. When I go downtown most of the down and out folks look mentally ill or disabled.
These are the same workers that build all of the upper class developments.

I do think it’s wrong to lump the transit riders alongside the group of people who are causing trouble. The greatest challenge right now is the fact that GoRaleigh Station is very difficult to patrol and secure and that has lead some people to use it to their advantage to do illegal things nearby.
GoRaleigh transit ridership jumped over 40% last year (link) which is a lot of growth and the system is trying to keep up.
GoRaleigh Station is overcrowded, with buses and people overall, leading those with nefarious intent to take advantage of it. The city has pretty much reached its end that more security is not the answer so to fix the station problem, something else will have to be done.
As for the issues seen on the buses themselves, I hope you’ll add your comments to the FY27 draft work plan and let them know what you think about transit overall.
