And let us not forget the several road rage incidents that come to mind. So driving can lead to those escalated senseless deaths as well. (Even if it is unrelated persons)

Does anyone want to meet up to ride the new Route 14 Atlantic? I haven’t found where there first trip is going to start from but my partner and I are planning to try to go ride it. It starts service on Sunday, March 22nd.

Yep! First trip on the 14. I asked Andrea and Andrew at the beginning of the month and they didn’t know at the time. I emailed them again and haven’t heard anything yet.
I just looked and hidden on the service changes page they seem to have a schedule posted now, looks like the first weekend trips depart GoRaleigh Station at 6am (5:30am for weekdays)
edit: I failed to read the part where the 6am trip doesn’t run on Sundays…. looks like the first trip on Sundays actually departs at 6:30am

Route 14 says it serves Dock 1053 and Raleigh Iron Works, but if there’s no crosswalk…

It’s been designed and funded, should be constructed soon. We approved it last year (sidewalks too).

Errant driver, I saw the bumper the next morning still sitting there. This would be the 3rd time since opening this guardrail has been replaced. The first time, the driver made it all the way through the guardrail to the fencing surrounding the mechanical area. People go too fast down Atlantic around this corner.

At the bus station I really hate it. The smell of 
, bums, and suspicious people, beggars it is not good to be around I am getting a Lyft. There a reason people hate transportation and I know why and understand.

We could have another Irina zyrustka.
Unfortunately we are looking at a much more complex situation at play. Many of these people are temporarily homeless, mentally ill, and suffering from drug addiction (Thanks to the slimy wealthier class). This area “Moore Square” happens to be a refuge or sanctuary for those in desperate need and always has been. This area is also just a microcosm of whats going on in our country today. A documentary could be done about the history of Moore Square.
We should take a look at what Durham has done. The bus station can simply be moved a couple of blocks away to resolve the situation. I remember when one of the primary bus stations was on Martin Street with no problems.
Classism is disgusting, but it’s a fact of our reality we must deal with in 2026.

Pretty good example of how choice riders find alternatives. If the BRT has to go through this station, it is going to be completely empty.
The situation at GoRaleigh Station is certainly being escalated. We’re at a point where more officers are making marginal improvements. It’s not sustainable. There are even negative consequences to having that many officers in the area. It’s safe but it’s not perceived as safe because it looks like a crime scene with so many police vehicles around and patrolling officers.
I’m really hoping that council and the city managers are working on this with a high priority.

A private business would be closed down by the City and/or state if it required this much police presence and had this many incidents.

Does anyone know how to get a reaforendom on the ballot? Maybe with enough signatures we can force a vote to move the bus station.
