Update from my apartment window
Busy man with the camera today. Thanks for all the many updates!!
I went by this today and is the height confirmed at 410 feet. This is going to make so much of an impact on the skyline.
It’s going to be nice to not have yet another 250 footer on the west side of downtown!
BTW, where are you hearing the 410 height? I thought it was just under 400.
one of my friends saw it somewhere. Wikipedia which is not always correct says 399. what is the height?
Either way, it’s going to be nice to have some height variation.
actually 410 Glenwood is the address so maybe that is not the height. I would say it is between 380-400 feet. But can someone check in the documents filed with the city and it should show the height. But either way it is the tallest building built in downtown in decades for sure. It does appear to be 399 feet from what I seeing in multiple places.
Is your condo in Florida with hurricane glass quieter?
Yes. Since I had my sliders replaced with the latest and greatest, it significantly reduced the noise. The entire assembly is rated so it’s well sealed and quiet. It’s definitely much quieter than my Raleigh condo windows.
Crazy that this is, essentially, already going vertical. Will start to go up fast once we see some steel beams! And I believe 399’ is the final height, at least that’s what we’ve been going with for the past few months now.
I thought this project was concrete superstructure instead of steel with pan decks?
Yeah it’s too tall to be all just steel beams. Get ready for slow progress like City Hall instead. ![]()
I think I saw 415 on one of their filings. Maybe discrepancies between screening and the roof?
There was about 3 or 4 different iterations.
Yeah I’m just going by the last estimate I saw someone post on here with the 399’ height. I certainly wouldn’t be mad at 415’ - it’d be the difference between this becoming the new 4th tallest… or the new 3rd tallest ![]()
If it is indeed 399 feet @GucciLittlePig and I will purchase a plastic Owl to be put at the top so we can call it 400 feet.
I think it was planned for 400-405’ but the architects read where Raleigh residents were upset we didn’t have any buildings downtown that were 300-399’ so they decided to cut it a bit short.
I think a big owl, or any kind of statue on one corner would be awesome. How about a giant milk cow to honor the buildings history?
