It’s a great looking building for sure.
90+ year old building. It’s time.
What even is “historic” ? Who even cares about cool buildings that have stood the test of time for a century? BORING! Give me more 5-over-1 beige slop please!!!
I don’t hate that house; in fact I really like it as well. Let’s move it to your lot. I am sure that it will fit.
Also the fact that State is going to take out three of their big residence halls in the near future. I assume the surge in new development in the area is due to this, along with an ever-growing student population that needs/wants convenient housing.
I thought that Hub was supposed to take care of those needs?
They are sequencing it so they are building new residence halls before demo-ing the current ones. So never less supply.
It’s been a while since I looked at the plan they published so I could be wrong but I thought they were planning on taking down Bragaw before starting construction on the first of the new dorms in that area?
I don’t think they’ve released the updated plans but yea it would be demo of just one wing of the ‘X’ of Bragaw in Phase 1 for 1 new dorm. Other 2 will start on Lee Field first. So I guess a few rooms down.
Per a TBJ article today, the tenant that will be filling this long vacant space on Hillsborough St will be Rally House. I’ve always wanted a larger NCSU apparel store on Hillsborough - and wish the Red and White Shop would have opened a 2nd location here - so I’m glad about that. But I was reallyyyyy hoping for a fun bar/restaurant concept to go in this space with a 2nd level to it.
They have a Durham and Chapel Hill stores that largely sell Duke/Carolina gear. Sounds like this one will sell largely State merch. They also plan to open a Cary store to sell gear for all the area’s teams.
They could still do a second floor outdoor space like Raising Canes has done. I’m sure that they could come up with a creative solution.
