City Market Artist Collective (CMAC) has closed. I enjoyed checking out their exhibitions and artwork on First Fridays. City Market Artist Collective on Instagram: "It’s a wrap! CMAC is closed and I thank everyone for the fantastic ride. I opened the doors with a five year plan in mind and here we are five years later. Regardless of speculation and such, this was the plan. I have been extremely busy and am even now working on a large commission for the Cohaire Indian Tribe that is very exciting. I look forward to all the work ahead, and thank all the participating artists and the many thousands of visitors. P.s I am looking to using this online platform for promoting and letting everyone know about all the great artists that are all around us, including Simon Griffiths who took this photo of me working in my carving studio. Happy New Year!"

If my video game experience has taught me anything, there is a treasure behind that wall.

The recent discussion that sprang up within the South Park Neighborhood - Warehouses, Old Greyhound, and Cargill Site thread of the former produce market that existed in City Market within the City-owned building located at the Davie Street entrance to City Market on Blake Street is more appropriate for this thread instead. Particularly since it is ongoing.

The photos of the produce market that was open there until around 2020 that were posted by @Drew ( South Park Neighborhood - Warehouses, Old Greyhound, and Cargill Site - #849 by Drew ) sparked some questions about City plans for that building now.

Believe that parcel was included in the assembly that was to become what was referred to as Moore Square South which featured a hotel within the Loden proposal.

So that might explain why nothing seems to be happening there at the moment.

@JLambertMelton confirms that is the case and also that proposal is ongoing: South Park Neighborhood - Warehouses, Old Greyhound, and Cargill Site - #856 by JLambertMelton

Good to hear from @JLambertMelton that the Loden group’s proposal for Moore Square South (parking lot → hotel+) is still moving forward. From the coverage of the Moore Square East proposal not moving forward sounded like the whole thing had collapsed.

From early (2023) coverage the Council included the two Blake Street parcels in the assemblage and there was mention by the developer of working with Artspace to create a gallery and meeting space on those two parcels.

From @Drew’s photos the former produce market building was not much more than a shed and the corner parcel is just a dead-end parking lot. Both easy candidates for redevelopment.
