Holiday Inn and New Indigo Hotel

But a lot of those suburbs even are starting to create dense mixed use nodes. Really the only time they have to travel downtown is if they work in an office or if they’re going for a night out.

We’ve beat it to death but until it doesn’t cost half the price to get double the living in the suburbs, you can’t just tell someone “live downtown”
Also I have more walkability in Wendell Falls than most ITB unless you’re right downtown. So I don’t think saying “just live downtown” is right or fair.
Our best option is dense nodes in the suburbs, downtown, the surrounding neighborhoods, etc.

I’m not arguing against suburbs. Hell I live on a cul-de-sac…

Just arguing against the nimby talking point about dense development increasing traffic.

I always wondered what was going through their minds. I guess looking down on the Capitol would be cool? Imagine the small-town NIMBY whining then!

That’s for old farts, lol

Watch party for the day they demolish her. We’ll watch, take video, then go have brunch.

We’ll need people stationed at different angles. :grinning:

It’s crazy how this hotel is listed on the Dreamville Fest recommendation list. I honestly think they need to replace it with the new AC Hotel since it isn’t on the list. I’m saying this because a few people pointed out how the holiday is somewhat rundown.

Apparently Prince once crashed a party at the holiday Inn and played for a bit at a sigma Pi party! :guitar: :musical_note:

Fun story!

early plans do not call for an implosion but more of a demo from the top of down. Concerns are nearby properties

That’s going to be a very boring video.

I know but there are code restrictions when it comes to implosions and you have registered historical places within a few hundred feet (second empire)

Late to the party here - just wanted to pile on with reminiscing. This was the first hotel I stayed at downtown back in 2019 before I relocated here. I was drawn to it because of its unique structure, and even though the interior was super outdated, it was a nice stay overall. Took these from the restaurant on the top floor…not a bad view. Downtown won’t be the same without it!

Hi Other Mike!
I love the views from up there, and no animosity to the building itself. As you said, it has become pretty outdated inside, and I can’t help but think this was intention on the owner’s part…just waiting for that moment when they get a big buyout.

Yeah, exactly! Served its purpose but will be nice to see that lot catch up w/ the times.

A bit late, but its an interesting juxtaposition with the Pendo tower.

Amazing to think how many new buildings will be in this shot alone in the next few years, too.

Just heard from a reputable source that the Holiday inn demolition will be detonation, not disassembled
