I do like it, but you are not wrong. I like that we are getting something that is not blue glass. I also like the vertical thrust of the design. It definitely gives me CP&L/Central Plaza vibes, which went up in 1976, but then I’ve always liked that building too. In the end, I am just glad to escape the current design zeitgeist, which I am largely bored with.

I think it was mostly about speed. What design and prefab materials are available to do this building?! Honestly it will look ok in the end. But our desire for unique and architecturally pleasing buildings are harder and harder to get in today’s market environment. Just my two cents.

We seem to be in the minority here, as most seem to like the design. Me personally, I think it looks dated as well.
It’s not going to win any architectural awards for certain, but it’s miles better than that Tempo/Homewood hotel going up. That thing looks both dated and suburban.

I think it looks alright, but those who don’t know it’s a residential tower would probably guess this was an office building instead. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the window treatment gives off office vibes, and aside from the lone corner of balconies, everything is aggressively bland. Like it somehow manages to look different from other downtown towers while still being kind of anonymous.

I think it is a pretty nice looking building. I especially like the offset in the windows.

Clearly my comment was tongue in cheek given its past “race” (which is lost) with 400H. That said, if I was holding my breath on the project, I would have been dead and buried already. If Capital Square beats it to occupancy, it’s gonna be a sad, sad, day.
