Having a conversation and maybe a public statement/apology about not reaching out to them should be sufficient - this is a pilot program, after all, and they could have been moved after the program was finished if their claims truly came to light (which is doubtful considering these things were meant to address exactly what they expressed concern over). But blowing however many THOUSANDS of dollars and not to mention the time spent implementing this program and now tearing it up - that is a rocky precedent.
Apparently the city felt that they didnāt do the proper outreach before hand. Donāt blame the bank for the city not doing its due diligence. So if the precedent is the city not picking and choosing who gets to have input or at least a forewarning, within a zone of impact, Iām fine with that being set.
The splash water feature isnāt working in park; they can put it there.
I do blame the city: first, for not doing their complete due diligence, but second for not trying to come to a happy compromise and instead rapidly blowing the thousands of dollars and time already spent for nothing in return.
The one thing I think sucks about the Moloks is how they use up parking spaces. Better to keep the status quo.
This is a very disappointing thing to see. I agree the city should have reached out and consulted all interested parties because they have clearly touched a nerve. But I think simply yanking them out is an overreaction.
I was just speaking to the owner of the house of Swank store on Hargett Street. He told me he has received the freedom of information document that he requested but it is an Outlook format and he has not been able to open it. He said they told him it was thousands of emails. He also tells me that the city is planning on removing the underground containers on Monday. This will require a street closure which hasnāt even apparently been announced yet. It just doesnāt sound like itās on the up-and-up to me. I wouldnāt know how to help him out with those emails myself but maybe somebody here knows what he needs to do.
Need to get it to a system that has outlook installed on it (or download outlook), then right click the file and select open with outlook. Copy to thumb drive or email to outlook address on system with outlook.
I would be leery of opening something that has thousands of emails in it, just takes one with a virus.
Iād be happy to chime in if thereās an email thread or something with Jon. Iām sure we can parse through it for the key stuff.
John from House of Swank here. Thanks for the support. Yes, this MOLOK issue is complete bullshit, and burying close to a gig in emails in a proprietary format is just the icing on the cake. Iāve got the 3 emails the city released to the INDY before they did their hatchet piece, but thereās something else going on, likely the ownership of the at parking lot. Nothing happens in this city in 72 hours, but from Aug 7 at noon till Aug 9th late afternoon, this entire public works project got shut down behind closed doors with no public records whatsoever.
That said, get your butts out and vote. This city council is completely and utterly dysfunctional. Theyāve ALL got to go.
Off to get this file convertedā¦
Completely agree. Also, your shirts are awesome. Nice to see you on here!
MOLOKās being dug out today. Enjoy the traffic jam, and the $100,000 or whatever to rip these out.
Just ridiculous. sighā¦
A complete waste of time/money.
I hope the foia request can shed some light on this.
Is the city now giving away public street parking to private businesses, or did the owner just decide to go rogue?
Wooh. That, I strongly believe, would be the first of itās kind.
Iām going to write to the city parking dept to inquire. I have the contact info from one of those Glenwood South/DLA things.
So the head of the Transportation Dept deserves a raise. He responded to my email within minutes while out of the country. He said it is not the city, and suspects it is wishful thinking by the property owner, but he will have his staff investigate and reply back. Crazy!
