Municipal Services and Safety in DTR

There’s one of those stations in front of Crank Arm and one at the greenway parking at Dix and Boylan. I think there may be another one by the Flowers Cottage at Dix, too, but I’m not certain

…what on earth is that thing?

It’s a repair station for bicycles. All of the tools that one would need are tethered to reels, and an air pump is integrated as well. The top of the repair station holds your bike off the ground when needed. The one shown is in a dense neighborhood of towers along a protected bike lane. It’s highly used by the community.

Unfortunately not Moloks. But, looks like we’re doing a trial to replace the garbage bins.

Wow - I don’t mind the round bins - they are an improvement over the dumpsters, at least currently. But all the fenced area around them looks like a nightmare to keep clean. The disguise is going to be worse than the actual trash bins.

I think they main point is that they want to get the trash bins off the sidewalk. This does a good job of that, but you’re right and I hope there are scheduled and frequent sanitations.

Ripping out the Moloks and the reason they did so was so 2018 politics in the dumbest way possible.

Looks like shit. What an “improvement”… lmao

They should have kept the Moloks

We are all “worried” about hiding garbage bins while a giant ugly parking deck looms in the background.

Could we get some more of these to hide the homeless?

Can we at least make them seafoam green?? ugh

That tan parking deck goes with anything I wear or drive! We really should get the top painted blue, and it totaly blend into the Raleigh’wood scene. As is, much better than the faux’loucks and their pen, imho.

Paint it either blending blue or go away green like Disney would do.

I like Go Away Green. Maybe that’s what they did with the Platform apartments for everyone arriving by train. The other option was to put up a sign that says: “Welcome to Raleigh but we’re full. Now f**k off back home.”

Two stabbings

It might be time for a transit police (community watch) division :man_shrugging:t4:

Like, hobos getting stabbed by each other is not maybe shocking. But a bus driver getting stabbed at a bus station is pretty big. They definitely need to figure this out. It’s bad for transit, and it’s bad for downtown.
