Are any of the candidates being asked about this? Since I am not in R’wood, I am purposefully keeping myself out of the election discussions. Its certainly not for me to be telling anyone there how to vote. However, this seems like a darn good question, and it gets to the competency, or lack there of, of the current council & administration. What an embarrassment.
Remember the Moloks? They are everywhere in Amsterdam:
On the rooftop at Raleigh Times and this CoR waste truck has been here servicing that looooong line of cams for at least 15 minutes.
#BringBackTheMoloks
Moloks are racist! Garbage can pile forever!
Who doesn’t love a situation where everyone involved is wrong?
Hey, I am curious about any guidance on the city and public trash cans. I know they are around bus stations, in parks, and throughout downtown but what about in other areas and just on streets? Can I request one? Is there any research on citizen maintained trash cans? just curious here.
Try sending the city a message via Twitter. Has always been very effective for me.
Today’s council work session had a lot of updates related to downtown. Very nuts and bolts kind of things but important nonetheless.
Can’t listen to that all now while I’m at work, but is that a molok coming back??
The mayor specifically asked about bringing back the Moloks. They said they are " having conversations" about it which could mean almost anything. They said they wanted to start with this aboveground approach first and see how it goes.
Pickleball at City Plaza. It’s coming.
I will vote for MAB just for the molok factor. Lol
(And also I actually love her blunt, slightly condescending demeanor.)
I listened to this session between meetings and came away very impressed with Troy Burton. His demeanor, thoughtfulness regarding the words he chooses to use, and his acknowledgement of input of others is just outstanding. He’s the sort of person that the city should be proud to have on its payroll.
I thought that their more mobile/above ground strategy for this pilot to be a much better approach that will allow them to test locations for efficacy before making a commitment.
That said, their initial location across the street from all those restaurants, and just around the corner from some others seemed like a good spot in their first pilot.
Listening sessions are on the calendar for the next budget. If the recent state of downtown, the good and the bad, has stirred some feelings in you, let the city know so we can get resources behind solutions.
Thanks for reminding me that this topic exists @dtraleigh !
One of things that I’d really like to see Raleigh implement are bike repair and pump stations. Miami Beach has these and I see them used quite often. I’ll grab a photo or two and share.
I think I have one of these in my basement!
I think there’s one outside Marbles but haven’t seen any others.
There is one behind the McDonalds along the Crabtree Creek Greenway (behind the mall).
