@dtraleigh, @R-Dub, @GucciLittlePig you have exactly 23 hours to get back on topic. :rofl:

Huh interesting. I go quite abit and can’t say I’ve had a bad experience yet. Beers have always been good. Pricey yes, but I figured that was just because I was picking some pricier choices. Ah well, back on topic lol

Beer is a municipal service! :grin:

I would love a brief - bulleted list - synopsis on this issue.

Why were the trash things removed?

@olga here is your bullet.

Gone. :man_facepalming:t3:

I’ll echo a comment I read earlier that I hope this episode doesn’t keep the city from trying new and innovative things going forward. They obviously screwed up by not discussing the plans ahead of time to the surrounding businesses, but hopefully they learn from their mistake for the next time. This was a great idea that needs to be implemented (and I assume still will be) and I hope that next time a new idea makes it way up the chain at the city that decision makers aren’t completely deterred by this.

Amazing to think I started this thread on May 28 with the announcement and here we are, only 4 months later. Fun summer. :roll_eyes:

This shows the city can act quickly if it wants to. Trying to find a bright side here.

Sad part is they acted just a quickly to rip them out that they did to install them. Had they taken the time to inform surrounding businesses, they might still be there.

Or, just now installing them :wink:

Pretty astonishing, indeed. From installation to suspension was just less than a month and a half.

That piqued our curiosity so we asked the question ourselves. Julia Milstead, a public information officer with the City, wrote in an email that “the embedded bins themselves were damaged during the removal process and cannot be re-used.” Oops. But “the lids, liners, support rings, surrounds, and even artwork were all successfully salvaged and will be used at new locations.”

Did the installation of these devices require City Council approval?

what a utter and complete waste of city funding. Did anyone ever sift through those e-mails requested as part of the Freedom of Info request.

What a shit show.

John at House of Swank got all the emails. There’s definitely more dirt than meets the eye and it wasn’t the bank that started it. It was one of the CAC chairpersons but I forget the details. Definitely worth an article if anyone dare to write it.
