These are some EXCELLENT shots @John !
Thank you. I love the light just before Sunset!
Walked past Animazement. Forgot about that… hadn’t been in many years. It was actually a sea of bodies earlier but rain dispersed most of the crowd.
We have rampage!!
When is someone one moving into the Citrex building? That is all empty, correct?
It exists only for me to use the parking deck for photos.
So, you don’t get stopped when you want to go up there? That’s good to know.
The elevator is only for those with the magic fob but it’s good cardio.
Stairs don’t scare me!

We talk a lot about street level experience and density. This whole block is the definition of low density. Many of the storefronts on this side of the block are empty or underutilized. But this is exactly the kind of view that makes an area look fun and desirable. I know it’s slated for more development, and I’m fine with that, but I’d be equally happy if this whole block or two was filled with retail and maybe a single floor of apartments above (dare to dream for what they did with the former Father and Son building).
Finished my walk this evening passing by Char-Grill and couldn’t resist. I needed to partake.
I call this shot Mid Century meets 2020s.
Sorry for the second post in a row. This one was taken a few minutes before arriving at Char Grill. The early Sunset reflection on all of the glass caught my attention.
Need a tram running down the middle of that street IMO, it’s so wide once you get down towards the capital building. Could really be a marquee “main” street besides Fayetteville.
Love how dense this corridor has become in just a few years. Looking forward to the (hopefully) taller building to go up just in front of Pendo from this angle. Even just one 30+ story building and a 10-18 story in this view would make for some dramatic height variation.
I’m late replying to this, but that is a very cool story about the underground rivers and tunnels. Raleigh is in such desperate need of a water feature, it is crazy that we have one, we have just buried and abandoned it. So much untapped potential.
